setting up physx

sup DH!!!! i went and got me BFG 280 oc card yesterday i heard that you can set up a second card for just physx..i have a 9600GT that i want to use for it, and wondering if anyone here knows how to set it up for that and do i have to install the bridge like i would if i was to do sli..also is there a program i need to do this...

no bridge is required. After installing PhysX software it shows in the Nvidia control panel where you tell it which card to use

Both cards should be shown in the NV control panel go to your PhysX settings and select the 9600gt and make sure PhysX is "on".

I asked this very same question not long ago.... Both Chaos and Mac told me the same as they already have done so above... ( i just needed confirmation before i went ahead).

It may be worth uninstalling & re-installing them to see if that helps.

I have a GT260 set for the main graphics and a 9800gt that was automatically set for PhysX during install of the drivers.

Try this;

-Uninstall nvidia physx and gfx drivers
-Restart
-Install latest nVidia drivers only once like you would for single card (have to be 180+ series to work best)
-Go into nv cp and under physx make sure its enabled and there should be a little drop down menu with your main (gtx 280) set as the default. Change it to the 9600GT and apply changes. Make any other cp changes you would normally make.
-Restart
-Enjoy a great physx experience

im going to hold off til this weekend so i can get a 1x sound card so it would sit in between the cards plus the 1x sound card i want will not block the fan its shorter the card i have now is long and will block the fan to my 9600GT...

OK Bro well keep us posted and if you need any help holler. Under the PhysX tab of the NV control panel it should show you an option to turn PhysX on or off and also list the cards you can apply this too.

btw the way guys with that 280GTX i also got me a cosair tx850w psu they were sold out of the 750 and i got 4gb of Corsair xtreme ram i should of took pics of the stuff before i install it but my batterys were dead to my camra, i was so excited to get this stuff installed..i was like hell with it im installing it...very happy i spend the money to get this stuff..

This thread got me wondering about something.

Normally, you can't mix ATI and NVIDIA cards in the same computer. I'm wondering, could you use an ATI video card for rendering and an NVIDIA video card as a PhysX processor in the same computer? My first thought is that it's not possible.

I have tried this with XP SP3 as well as Vista Ultimate (64 bit) and it was a no go because of driver conflicts. I was trying to run a 4870 with a 9600GT for dedicated Physx but one set of drivers always overrides the other. That type of driver modding is beyond me I haven't done coding in that scope using assembler or C++ in years.

It should be possible on XP and Win7 but I haven't tried it myself. Vista is out of the question tho as you cannot use two different drivers. I think its called heterogeneous multi adapter from what I've seen

Just wondering, my bros new (single) 9800GTX2 card has the 'Physics' on off button 'Un-checked'.
