8800gt temps

I get about 55-57C idle and reach 72-75C on load. I know is on the high side but are they still safe or do i need to get a better cooler ( which i dont think is gonna make that much difference since the weather here is hot)?

Re: 8800gt temps

that is quite hot yeh. if you aren't doing so already i suggest you use evga precision or rivatuner to change the fan speeds.

Re: 8800gt temps

I use gainward expert utility. BTW i play for 3-4 hours and i dont get any problems like missing textures or anything but still temps that high i worry that will reduce the life of my 8800gt

I suggest you get a better cooler , I had 5500 fx and the fan stopped spinning "don't know why", after a couple of hours the card stopped working and doesn't work at all now.

Have you tried setting the fan speed to 100% and see weather there is a change or not.

Re: 8800gt temps

No need to worry since those temperatures are really fine for todays graphics chips. I'm not entirely sure about where the 8800GT's built in thermal protection throttle limit lies but it should be above 100C. Just keep the fan from clogging up with dust and it should have a long life.

I've a friend whose fx5500 did exactly the same thing.

Those temps are high but not dangerous for an 8800GT. Does you card have the dual or single slot cooler? Also, what's your case ventilation like?

ok thanks. I cleaned the fan and temps dropped 1-2C i get about 72-73load but still i think are a bit on the high side since most reviews about 8800gt temps are at the 60-70zone
