9800 gt - problems with cs 1.6

This computer runs everything in max graphics, but a 10 year old game like cs 1.6 it runs like crap. I heard the drivers for the 9800 suck for fps ... I've been trying to solve this on my own for about 2 weeks and it's driving me crazy... cs 1.6 is laggy as hell runs better on my shitty 6 year old dell with an onboard gc. I already tried everything possible with the settings and I put it on max preform. Does anyone have a fix for this?
