Video editing

Hi guys. :P

Im Helping a friend upgrade his computer, and i need help in upgrading the graphics card.

The specs are:
Cpu: Core 2 duo e4300 1.86 ghz
Ram: 3 gb Kingston pc 5300 667 mhz

The computer are gonna be used to video and foto editing and not for gaming. So what card would you suggest? the price range is about 100 $ and i live in denmark.

Any card from Nvidia in the 8000 series or for ATI from 3000 series and up will do just fine.
What software is he going to use?

It isnt anything advanced. i think its mostly windows movie editor or something.

Do you know what is his current graphics card? You see for most of editing the graphics card doesn't really do much, memory and CPU are the most important aspects.

its just the standard onboard intel gma 3000

Hmm, well, it wouldn't hurt getting another graphics card.

But he doesn't need any top of the line. Since you are probably asking for a Nvidia card, get a 8600 and upwards and he should be more than fine. If he wants he can get somethiing older, mid-high end 7000 series, but I see no reason to go that way since the 8000 and 9000 series are cheap enough now.

Im getting a 9500 gt. its about 2/3 of the price and it performs better

I will highly suggest 9600gt or Ati 4670. Both cards well under the $100 price tag and yes i know you said you will not use it for gaming but both cards will allow you play even the latest games at high settings with reasonable resolutions. Besides since you will be using it for video and foto editing anyrhing from 8000 series and up or hd3000 and up will do and what you must def get is a fast quad core
