nvidia 6200 + CSS/hl2

i bought a nvidia 6200 GE / TD 128mb AGP i played a few games such as battlefield heroes, requiem bloodymare, gta san andreas all going down well then i went to play counter strike source 30 fps :S i wasnt impressed so i fort id try lowering the graphics and and the screen resolution still the same :S

ive bin searching for fps problems and i havent found much tbh ive heard that one person fixed it with 81.85 drivers but i dont know anything about nvidia because the last cards ive had have bin ATI radeon i have an ATI radeon 9250 and before that i had a radeon x800.

the x800 is not not compatable with my motherboard

well if you have any ideas why i have bad fps on half life 2 and counter strike source games.

x

Welcome to DH.

At first glace, it would appear the video card may not be the problem. Posting the rest of your system specs would be very benefitial.

Hard to say without the rest of the system specs and welcome walsh to DH

I moved this to the NV card forum as it might generate some more ideas.

Re: nvidia 6200 + CSS/hl2

Honestly, I'm not sure those frames are out of line with your setup. YOu may be expecting too much from that machine, it's pretty old. The 6200 was never really a gaming card either. At any rate, I dont think there is anything "wrong" with your hardware.

Your current rig seems very similar to an old system I had, and that was about the performance I would get with HL2 when it came out. If you can find some older drivers which might be more optimized for the game, you may see some improvement. Aside from that, throwing a few hundred bucks at a new build is the way to go.
