another card for physx??

Well, I can enable/disable PhysX on GPU calculation from my nvidia control panel, I'm assuming that if there is a second card present in the system, not in SLI mode, that it will allow you to select calculations on a specific GPU from the same panel.

I believe that both GPU's must be nvidia for the PhysX software to work.

Actually the way to get an ati card to run as your main card and a nvidia card as physx card, you just follow what frankie wrote in his first post. :P

all you have to uninstall your drivers for your card install the the card you are going to add for physx you dont have to add the ribbon and the start up and add driver it will pick up your second card as physx...for ati is a differnt ball game..

Got my system up and running, will post some pics tommorow, although no second 260, i got a gt 210 from my brother but i cant get it running as a physx card, everytime i try to install drivers for it, my pc crashes, and it's the same when i try to install the newest drivers for my 260?? anyone know why??

you have to make sure all drivers are unstalled then reinstall one driver restart computer then it should read your second card as a physx like this...

so uninstall all drivers, then install drivers for my gtx 260 turn off my pc then plug in the gt210 and it should let me enable it as a physx card?

Huh?

As far as I know you don't need to install the drivers again. I had a 8800GTS here. Plugged in a 9500GT and the system recognized the card instantly.

Maybe take a look with GPU-z and see if that program sees the G 210.

n00b alert..

you guys all talking about GT cards for this, does that mean the 9600GSO i have lying around won't work as a physx card ??

or are the GT's just better for it ?

Any card from the 9XXX supports PhysX

GT is just fancy word that sounds cool :P (or at least NVIDIA thaught so)

GSO is also really nice.

Which version do you have, the one with G92 and 96 Shaders or that one with 48 Shaders?

the gt is a little bit faster then the gso...did you install both cards before you installed your driver? unstall drivers make sure both cards are in then restart add new driver it should read the second card as physx only...

Well it depends. These cards will be used for PhysX, not for normal gaming. I thought I've read an arcticle saying that the amount of shader processors (Cuda cores) are the important aspect and the clock of the shaders of course.

So that's why I asked which version niceguyrichy had. GT only has 64...

i found out that the minimum spec to run nvidia physx is, the card has to have a minimum of 32 cores and minimum of 256mb of dedicated memory, the 210 only has 16 cores

so it wont do physx!!

im sure its all going to run the same in physx.. now batman would be something to get a bigger card for if you have the money i hope they come out with more games like this...

i exchanged the 210 for a 220 and i enabled it as a physx card but something really weird keeps happening, i ran 3d mark 06 and everything was running fine, at the start of th return to proxycon demo i was getting about 120 fps and an average throughout of about 50-60 but then for no reason for about a second or less it froze the my fps dropped by half?? i dont no why this keeps happening but in all the tests after that my fps are all half what they should be and its the same in games untill i restart then everythings ok for a while and then it freezes and the fps halfs???

i dont know whats happening can anyone shed some light on this?

did you make sure that a program wasnt running or maybe your virus scan didnt start up..if you have one..

installed the nvidia 191.xx (as the 192 apparently puts in a perma fix that prevents the mod from working at all)

along with a 5770 BEFORE the 9600GT i've got..

scored over 4500 in fluidmark...

I recently added an impulse bought 9800gt 1gb for physx and it has been worth it. It made a hell of a difference in Batman and even seems to have smoothed out my other games like DAO and mass effect which is pretty weird. Installation was straightforward and I only had to change the physx adapter option in the nv cp.
Its a pretty sweet card for the price tho (sparkle, $75@microcenter) and even requires no power cable; only downside is that it uses a crappy dual slot hfs

and no power cable! damn, my main problem atm (aside from a dead mobo) is a lack of power cables in the case

if i do add the 96gso for physx when i rebuild i've no idea where the extra power is coming from

the card should come with splitter type adapters that should work out in a tight spot. Though in all honesty while dedicated physx is nice to have I don't think its something you should go out of your way for

Question, if you have 2 GTX 260 on SLI, can I just enable the 2nd card to be used as a physX card when I play Batman in the Nvidia control panel without taking out the SLI connector? and return it back in the nvidia control panel so I could play Crysis on SLI?

why would you do that if you have 2 cards in sli ... which you have physx but not that much physx as if you have a card just for physx..
