Re: another card for physx??

the 8xxx series and up all work for physx

and you can have a number of configurations.. for example 2x 260's in sli with a 8800 or 9600 or 295 if you wanted to, for physx..

i'd recommend a 9600gt though.. they give the biggest bang imo. They are typically single slot cards that run off motherboard power just fine...

Also i must state that using the Glen mod with the 191.07 nvidia drivers is working flawlessly for all the configurations i've tested...

everything from a x700 up to the newest hd5770 with a 2ndary card for physx is flawless. Excellent performance. I've been doign vantage mark tests, UT3 Physx map tests.

Damn it's so cool playing UT3 with the destructable lvls and all that cool stuff happening.

damn I can't use my old 8800GT then.

Question, if you have 2 GTX 260 on SLI, can I just enable the 2nd card to be used as a physX card when I play Batman in the Nvidia control panel without taking out the SLI connector? and return it back in the nvidia control panel so I could play Crysis on SLI?

thanks.
You can just disable sli in the control panel and set the 260 you want for physx but its not worth it even in Batman. It might run slightly faster but it will be really close to justify the hassle. The 8800gt will work very well tho as its pretty much the same as a 9800gt.

Re: another card for physx??

I was running a ati physx compilation recently and had to give up on it cause of stability issues including, but not limited to (random lockups). At first I thought it was my OCed ram, but after extensive testing I finally removed the physx card and everything returned back to normal. Just bad luck I guess.

Re: another card for physx??

I thought you could also use a 8800GT for PhysX.

I had a 9600GT which had a PEG connector...

some older 9800's didn't support physX either on the gtx they called it a 9800GTX+ to signify that it did support physX.
