GeForce 7400, Windows 7, and Mobility Modder

Sony will not support Windows 7 on Vaio model VGN-SZ430N. But now stuck. Everything's working OK except can't get 1920x1080 resolution on external 24" digital monitor (DVI connection). Best is a fuzzy 1280x720. Tried installing nVidia Mobility Modder but was unsuccessful. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for your help.

Sorry it took long for any response, I take it Vaio model VGN-SZ430N is a laptop and you are trying to link up your laptop to your external screen, sounds like a driver issue to me, when drivers aren't working well some settings aren't available . Thats why you cant get your 1920x1080 istead you get a lower resolution .Try finding e latest drivers for your onboard graphic chipset and updating them

Re: GeForce 7400, Windows 7, and Mobility Modder

Just solved what sounds like a similar problem. I have the Sony VGN-C1Z/B, which originally came with XP. I upgraded to Vista a few years back (no probs) and then did a clean install of Win 7. Like you, I couldn't find a Sony Win 7 driver for the GO 7400, so tried the various fixes found here and elsewhere without success. As a last throw of the dice, I tried downloading the Vista driver set for the GO 7400 from the Sony site. And it worked. Really wish I'd thought of that first!
