PhysX 9800GTX Mod Failure!

I had a plan to recycle an unused 9800GTX by attaching a fan mod from another unused gpu (4870 with BIOS mod).

Still working good GeForce 9800GTX+

Basically what I did in this mod was attach the aftermarker gpu cooler onto the 9800.

To clean up the back plate I shaved it in half to tidy it up a bit.

Unfortunately running the card was another issue as it caused a BSOD.

Upon removal of the modded failure.. a close wiff of the suspect parts revealed a picturesque view of the smell of the inside of a hairdressing salon (fuming!!) I accidently put the fan power into the audio plug on the GeForce!!

Conclusion:

I guess it seemed a nifty idea at first and even motivated me to further mod more components, but I think this is what some say not to do to a working piece of equipment!!
