Help me with my GTX 560!!!
Hello! Friends.
I brought a Palit GTX 560 and when I tried it installing it in my case. At first go, it worked like a charm and I was immersed in the quality of graphics. My whole pc was working perfectly that day. Then I went through the normal shutdown process. Next day, when I turned on my PC there was a message saying that I did not shutdown my PC properly. So, I selected the normal bootup process. when the windows started, my resolution became 800x600, and it prompted "please reinstall your video drivers" (something like that). and checking my device manager (and video setting), it is now currently "Standard VGA adapter". I tried using the supplied drivers from CD but it prompted me "no suitable driver for your current chip, "we support NVIDIA GeForce GTX560" (which is what im actually using). I tried what I have downloaded before, which is the version 275.33, and it said "could not find compatible graphics hardware". I also tried latest drivers from the NVIDIA site but no hope. Then, I reinstalled my OS which is Windows 7 (64 bit) and again installed the card freshly onto the new OS. Again, it worked with no problem. But, after a shutdown process the same problem persisted. I'm using Cooler Master 600watt extreme power plus supply. My CPU is Q9650. I also tried it in my friend's PC. He is having Cooler Master 500watt extreme power plus supply. When I installed the card in his system, it installed successfully and every game was running wonder. But, again after a normal shutdown process, same problem occurs. So, I want to know that whether this is a PSU problem i.e. PSU is not capable of providing enough power to the graphics card or is the card faulty. Any help is appreciated! |

Re: Help me with my GTX 560!!!
GTX560 requires a 600W+ (True 80+) psu. You may try to put a new psu and see what is the outcome.

The GTX560 requires about 200W spare on the relevant 12V rail(s). If you have a power hungry system, you'll need a powerful PSU, if not, you won't. 80+ rating is really not relevant at all, it's about efficiency, not quality (though I'll allow that there's a weak positive correlation). Either of the aforementioned CoolerMaster PSUs should be sufficient in any reasonable system. I'm presuming that neither you nor your friend are running a lot of other hardware or substansial CPU overclocks. I'm not sure, but I think probably you have a graphics card issue.

But it will require a 2 X 6 pin power points. As the opening posted mentioned he tried the card in anther system (both with adequate PSU's) and is having the same issue.. Have you tried the 295.51 beta's that were relesed last week... Old thread i know but who know's if the opening poster will see these posts. |

Re: Help me with my GTX 560!!!
That was my friend's gfx card. He sent it for replacement and came to know that gfx card was faulty. When the new one arrived it was working fine. As he was away from his home when the new one arrived, only his parents were able to test it and they don't have much knowledge on how to install a gfx card so they after watching a tutorial from youtube installed and informed that the card is working fine. My friend has not yet tested it actually by himself so it is now hard to tell. Stress testing needs to be done, so he will be testing it in a month when he returns home.
As far as for now no problem has arrived with the new replaced card. If again the same thing happens after stress testing it, he will replace his PSU with the new one. |
