loud noise from Ti4600 card
I have a Leadtek a250 Geforce 4 Ti4600 card. I had this card for about 2 years now and the noise the fan is making is getting louder and louder. I've tried cleaning the dust off the air filters but the noise is the same. Is there any way I can quiet down the card? Any suggustions?
What's the best Fan/temperature control utility program for this card? Thanks in advance! |

hello. you cannot controll the cards fan. the fan is dying (happens) so all you can do it buy a new one. I recomment the thermaltake copper one. easy to install and less noisy then the original fan. or you could get a zalman heatsink/pipe cooler

Thanks for the replies! Out of curiousity, how would you already know the fan is dying just by its loud noise? and also, would it be worth getting a new cooler/fan for a 2 yr old card or just wait another 1 year or so (until fan dies) and get a new video card then?
BTW, how would I know if my video card is damaged or not already? I already had 2/3 reboots while playing UT2004 demo. I looked through my local comp store and found a couple of options. 1. Zalman ZM-OP1 80mm Noiseless Fan for ZM80C-HP http://www.zalman.co.kr/english/prod...m?ProdID=15138 2. Thermaltake GIANT II VGA Cooler http://www.thermaltake.com/coolers/chipset/a1655.htm 3. Zalman ZM80C-HP Heatpipe VGA Cooler http://www.zalman.co.kr/english/prod...m?ProdID=15138 Which one would be BEST for Leadtek's A250 Ti4600? and also... Would the 1st choice be sufficient? (I'm am hoping this one since its the cheapest

There is already a huge heatsink on the A250 Ti4600.
Would it be sufficient to replace the two fans? or would it be better to take out the heatsink/2fans and replace it with what you recommended? Thanks for all your help The_Neon_Cowboy! |

Make sure the card is seated and completely level. My card was slightly warped when I seated it, and that caused the fan to whine whenever I returned from hibernate. Try to push down on the corner to the front of the case and see if it stops it from making the noise.

![]() Number 1 of your choice is only a fan, you still need a heatsink like number 3. I'm currently using the Zalman 80A-HP, nice cooler but without fan some times it gets really warm. Try number 2, I've heard some nice things about them. Or replace the fan and keep your original heatsink. |
