Need Information About GeForce 4 Ti 4800

About a week ago I ordered/received a GeForce 4 Ti 4600 video card.
Tonight I went ahead and installed it (upgrading from a GeForce 3).
After some hell getting it all installed and working (I am not at all technically inclined), it registers on my system not as a GeForce 4 Ti "4600", but rather a GeForce 4 Ti "4800".
The box that it came in definitely says MSI (brand) Ti 4600 8X on the outside of it in big unmistakeable letters.
I feel taken advantage of.

However, it would be great if someone tells me that the "4800" is even better than the "4600"...and that is what I am asking:

"Can someone tell me whether the "4800" is better... or as good... almost as good ...or not as good as the 4600?

I need to know if I should I send the card back or keep it?

Is it a "significant" enough upgrade from the GeForce 3 (that I had used for so long) that that in itself woud be a reason to "keep" it?

Thank you very much...

a Ti4600 with an 8x AGP IS a Ti4800

The only difference between the Ti4600 and the Ti4800 is the AGP speed.... so I guess the Ti4800 is slightly better - but not by much at all.

Then there is also the Ti4800se.... that is the Ti4400 with 8x AGP.... but you don't really have to worry about that

I think you should keep it - you got what you paid for - a 4600 with 8x AGP

It's a decent upgrade from the GF3 - even though it's based around the same technology... tbh... it would have been better to upgrade to something along the lines of a 9600XT, but it depends on what your budget was.

I think that I 'will' keep it. Some others have told me the same thing that you have. I appreciate your opinion and kind response.

Thank you very much...

You can also check Adrian's Rojack Pot. They got a guide for desktop GPU details.
