I am trying to instal an nVIDEA GeFORCE fx5200 PCI card. I currently have a COMMATE S7SXB Mother Board with onboard graphics.

The Board manual shows all jumpers except the video disable jumper and my bios doesn't show any method to disable it. This bios has always been troublesome it doesn't even have an advanced features option!

I have wasted £2.00/minute on the helpline of the supplier their engineer was less than useless. I also arranged for the supplier to have a look at my system.
Before leaving to carry my pc to the store I confirmed the appointment only to be told on my arrival that the engineer had been unexpectedly called to another store not to return Then they refused to give me a refund because I was outside the 14 day return period. (Only because I had to wait a week for my appointment with the engineer) I have contacted the commate site but none of their links work. I also considered buying an online bios upgrade.

Can any one be a buddee and advise or slap me on the head to kick my brain into gear please!

You've left out some of the info we need, so I'll make some assumptions, that may not be correct.

First is, that you've actually tried to install the PCI card and it failed? The reason I ask this, is you don't HAVE to turn off the onboard graphics to have a functional second PCI display working, you can just install it and then from the Nvidia driver in Windows, "flip" the two monitors, so your PCI ends up being the primary display instead of secondary (or at least it gives you that illusion).

Yes, there is a downside to this, normally you'll get no display at all, until Windows is done booting and has initialized the PCI display, but normally that is a livable problem. Another thing you need to do, if your bios has the option is "assign IRQ to PCI VGA" if that option exists, you want it turned on.

For obvious reasons, it is better if you can just turn off the onboard VGA, if you don't wish to use it at all, but if you can't find out how to manage that, I hope I've at least suggested a workable solution to your problem.

GeFORCE 5200F instal

Thanks RebelWolf I'd already done all of that but when i connect the two screens i only have a continuous blank screen. The card has been back to the store where out of site it was tested in another machine and they said it was ok although I'm not convinced unless I see it myself. When I instal the card I cannot get video on either output until the card is removed! Keithanthony Thanks
