that is not an easy question to answer.
many of us have our preferred drivers, just depends on a couple of things if you benchmark allot or not bothered about doing so. but i am currently using 60.85 whql drivers for xp on a fx5900 256mb,and am impressed with them.you will find them via this newspost i made just follow the link and scroll down the page. there is also some 60.86 for win 98/ME as you have not said which os you use. ps: welcome to dh.

Thanks for the welcome
Well basically what im trying to say is which drivers are most stable on a Ti4200 Like if i install 44.03 drivers i have less problems than if i install say the newest Nvidia drivers which have alot of extra instructions for cards that i dont have i dont really care about benchmarks just stability |

could also depend on who you install drivers.do you overwrite drivers or remove then install?
ps: i know what you asked, but most newer drivers do seem to lean towards the newer cards to date.testing and all that i mean. been a long time since i had a ti4200. Last edited by MIG-31; May 24, 2004 at 10:51 PM. |

i prefer to use driver cleaner to remove old then install new... never liked the idea of installing something over something that is still being used.

driver cleaner is a great bit of software.i don't trust overwriting drivers myself.
could be worth a try of those drivers i mentioned,or just give it some time to see what other advice is given, you will receive replies as this is a great forum. |

the 60.85's really dont like my card. lots of artifacts and looks like its misdrawing textures and such...will try omega 44.03 drivers now.
Omega drivers working pretty well hoping to get some other responses... Last edited by DoRk cHoPs; May 25, 2004 at 12:50 AM. |

56.72s work great for playing Far Cry, SOF2, and BF1942 for me. I think it mostly depends on what games your playing.

I am new to this forum too and was wondering if someone could offer some help. I would like to get the best drivers for my graphics card but not sure which to use. I was directed to check out the Omega website drivers which led me to this website forum. Anyway I am playing a new game called Thief Deadly Shadows and had to buy a new graphics card. I bought a GeForce FX 5900 XT and it seems to be working nicely. However, now when I go to play my older Thief games the game loads like normal then nothing, a black screen. I was able to put a safe texture code fix in one of the games configuration files but only for Thief 2. Thief 1 still won't work.
I asked about this on the Eidos/Thief forums and that is how I ended up at Omega and then here. My problem is I don't know what driver I should use. My specs: Win XP Pro AMD Athlon XP 1900+, MMX, 3DNow, ~1.5GHz 512MB RAM Chaintech NVIDIA nForce2 Ultra 400 + MCP mobo AOpen NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900 XT 128MB I notice A LOT of people use ATI cards over NVIDIA are they better cards over all? I was discouraged from buying one because of the history of problems associated with the drivers. Has that improved? I am now wondering if I should get an ATI Radeon card instead but I don't want problems. Any suggestions or help would be much appreciated. |

I would stay with the 44.03's Omega or nVidia the were the best performing and stable drivers i could find for my Ti4200
