6600gt drops down to 15fps

when playing call of duty mp im getting 90fps, then after bout 5mins it will go down to 15to20 only for a few seconds, but game lags like mad until framerate increases,
tried diffrent drivers ,is this normal for a 6600gt agp.

Check for interference of background software, like anything Norton.

If that doesn't seem to be it, describe the system a bit more and see if anything similar occurrs in other games as well.

Also wich game and @ what level if possible. AI stuff can bring a X800/6800GT to crawl here and there, and it has nothing to do with the video card. CPU bound levels are the issue sometimes.

call of duty 2aa 2af on if i get to a wide open space like a field it drops down; when in building its fine,
