I'm back to nvidia

Having been a avid nvidia fan for 3 years, buying a geforce 1-3, I made the move to ATI. Installing the card I was happy with performance, graphics and price, but there was one thing I hated. The colors

I have waited 4 years for ATI to bring their own version of digital vibrance to their control panel, and when my Radeon 9600Pro crapped out, it was time to buy a new videocard.

But I looked at the ATI camp, and the prices are outragous! It would cost me $330 for a Radeon 9800 Pro, while the Geforce 6600 I just bought outclass's it, outperforms it, and with digital vibrance is much more exciteing to look at, and it was only $256 with taxs. It was time to move back.

Been playing with the card all day now, and thou the games run faster, with the digital vibrance they seem to come alive. I was even playing D2 again marveling at the visuals, which are normally drab, were popping up from the screen.

Its good to be back with Nvidia

Me too i had a 9800pro which in my opinion is still a very good card, but I wanted faster and better so I went with a 6800gt and friggin love it. The only thing I dont like is nvidias drivers imo you need to use a 3rd party driver to get good iq and stability. I like the zeropoint drivers.

I kept hearing Nvidia colors are dull and actually need digital vibrance just to look right / good least thats what I've read many times from people with both cards. But that a simular feature would be nice for ati cards. Supposeadly could be in the works....

I moved over to ATI from nvidia before they added that um.. feature.. So I oboviusly can't say from experiance... I'd like to see some screen shots to compair... I rember seening alot more effects though when I switched.. but that was when they were early into optumizeing and things wheren't showing up like the 3dmark2003 bullets and smoke feasco

The GT's look nice but some of the the bandwiths tests that inicated it's just a 4 pixel pipleined card, with 2 texture units on each pipe (4x2) insted of the advertised 8X1. has me worried... That and they've lied before with a 5XXX series so it hard to know what to beleave there...I'd be instested I picking up one just to "play with" but they prices will have to drop more 1st... If nothing I could use it to verrify ati driver / game bugs...

Well I also went from a 9800 pro to a 6800 GT, the card is good indeed but I miss the ATI drivers very much.

And I don't like Nvidia and the way the do things but thats another story, it doesn't affect my card anyway.

About the AA thing, well I don't know actually I didn't look at much and compared them with ATI, I'm just happy I'm able to play with AA so far and at high resolutions.

My next card, well I don't know, its going to depend what the best price/performance is going to be.

If not nvidia will start to release official whql(better) drivers more often then they're doing now, i will most certainly go back to Ati with my next VC buy.
But as Danhill said, its going to depend on the best price/performance and availability

Yeah, I've moved from ATi as well, as nVidia currently offers (and I mean that literally - offers) more bang for the buck. But $330 for a 9800Pro? Come on...
As for Digital Vibrance... Great feature, one cannot live w/o. Never used it, actually (I looked at it, saw what it does, didn't need it).
