Geforce versus ATI radeon

I had an ATI Radeon 9500 agp card which I'd thoghtb I would upgrade to a Gainward Geforce FX 5600 Ultra.
I ran the benchmark before swapping out and got a score of 12500 on the ATI. After installing the FX5600 and the latest drivers I got a score of 7500.
What am I doing wrong or have I put a worse card in my system than I had before???

Yup, you screwed yourself over on a slower card. If you want a true upgrade buy a newer video card. I would suggest something along the lines of an ATi Radeon x800XL or an nVIDIA GeForce 6800GT(or better). By the way, what are the specs on the rest of your system?

System Specs

I got about 14,300 2001 3dmarks with a 9500 pro
but that was a long time ago... drivers have improved
since then...

I'd consider buying a 6600 or 6800 series it you want to switch
to nvidia

would a GeForce 6800 GT be better than a Radeon 9800 pro?

Take the 5600 back personally. Try to softmod the 9500 into a 9700.

and yes a 6800GT is a LOT better than a 9800 pro.

I'm currently having major issues with ATI cards with the current mobo, and processor setup I have right now. Seems ATI cards have many issues with the 64 processor motherboards. Check out AMD's technical support forums. Its crazy in there.
