XFX, they are doubling there warranty lifetime x2 for you and the next owner. check the news forum it was just up a few days ago.
I use an xfx 6600GT and wish I would have gotten an xfx 6800GT, also xfx is one of the lower priced 6800GT Here is the real question what is your budget?? |

my budget isnt really that much. $400 is my max.I have no pci express slots. so I am stuck with agp cards. I just need a good card that will tame BF2. also will be ok with newer games down the road.

hmmm.......with that sort of budget you should easily be able to afford a 6800GT. My only concern though is that your CPU will bottleneck whatever video card (6800 vanilla or higher if nVidia, and x800pro or higher if ATI) you decide to get

I will be building my first system prob this winter. but will be a peice by peice project. I just need the 6800 to play BF2 really well. better than the ATI 5950 (I think thats what it is.). then when I build my system I can transplant the card in to the new one. just as long as it will work all I need as this will be temp untill said computer is built.

well, if you're going to be doing that, i say save your money on an AGP gfx card and buy a PCI-E gfx card instead. And don't go cheap and buy a MoBo that has both AGP and PCI-E cuz those suck. The price difference between PCI-E and AGP is really nothing for the same gfx card, just that you won't be able to use any of the components until you get all the parts ready for the system build.

see thats the prob. I play in a clan for BF2 and need a better video card now. I can tell the ati card I use now gets overwhelmed at times. my mother board will have a pci express slot. I am not in to the most advance stuff out there. by the time my new comp gets done the 6800 will be in the same catagory as my old 5900 obsolite.
if I upgraded my processor. what speed processor would I need to get to not bottleneck the system. I think someone told me I could go up to a 2.4 P4 processor. would that be powerful enough? |

1024/768. and everything on LOW lol. fraps say my FPS is around 40 I can jump to 50 but when alot is going on it drops to about 30 even 20 at times.
someone in my clan suggested the 6600 GT. I might go that route and save the extra $$$$ for my project. thanks for the help. I really wanted the 6800 GT but if the 6600GT will do just as good. I then can drool looking at the 7800 saying oh yes she will be mine. she will be mine .

Well it won't do just as good that’s for sure, If you want good performance NOW get an 6800gt.
If you want to save cash don’t buy anything else for this computer (save it for the next) and buy a 6800 non gt, they are under 200 performs better than the 6600gt have 256bit interface AND...here is the big one, you might be able to unlock more pipes to even have better performance.... Just poke around new egg and post what you think is good and well let you know. ok well I just checked newegg, if you want to stay with nvidia here are my two choices. XFX 6800(128mb)-$162 XFX 6800 GT 256mb -$284 Got to go, later |

he's right about the 6800 vanilla. It's 12 pipelines, 325 core/900 memory, 256bit memory bus and only $10 more over the 6600GT. You'll get better game performance out of that card than you will out of the 6600GT. Just DON'T get the gigabyte one. the cooling solution is a piece of crap and you will end up hating yourself for buying that one if you do get that one.

Well I also had a similar question but it had more to do with the CPU. I was wondering what CPU (least cost AMD) would not bottleneck a 7800gtx.

thanks a bunch, I heard that getting a 3700 is not worth it for how much more it costs. But this is just to hold me over with 1gb ram and a 7800GTX. Next time I upgrade (which would be when I needed to) I will get an extra gb of ram, and dual core CPU and another 7800gtx : ). I think thats probably the cheapest way to go at it with the highest gains in performance and making my PC last longer than 3 years : ).

. this will get my by just fine for BF2. using the 78.03 drivers. I can now kill people with a couple of shots instead of a full clip and hit nothing. thanks for all your help.
