A new week a new NVIDIA ForceWare driver release. This time is is version 78.01. The driver has been virus and pest checked and is 100% clean. Seems to be a good one.
The driver is compatible with GeForce Series 6 and 7 graphics cards. The drivers have been recompressed to save on file-size as they where 27 MB big. They are now 18 MB. Of course these drivers are not WHQL certified and to be considered beta. Download

thanks for the post, yay for Nvidia. Too bad a lot more people on these forums are for ATI : (. I say don't be for either or, just go to what ever is the best and costs the least while givin u most performance.

I wish they had more "official releases" instead of the leak and beta crap... it hard to
know what the best and the newest driver it with out a bunch load of testing and discussion. I can't keep up on the best drivers so I take a hit and use the "last officials", or I have to ask or test a bunch and I'd rather waste my time doing other things.

I think what he means, is that he would like nvidia to release more offical drivers rather than rely on betas and leaked drivers, which lets be honest must be offical leaks.
Anyway back to the thread at hand, anyone else gave these a shot yet? ill upload them to Driverheaven downloads in a while. |

It’s hard to judge what the best one to use with all theses driver versions with completely Different dates. For example 80,XX released, then 77.XX set , then 78..XX set a 77.XX set the version are all over the paces as well as the dates. The official release you don’t have that problem… I work on computers with NVIDIA cards, I have a NVIDIA card. It very hard to keep up on what best with out loading all these sets and seeing what I like best. I shouldn’t have to do that. I should be as simple as finding the latest driver on the MFG website and loading it. I every so often have to ask what the best ones to be using? Were as I should be able to go to the latest set and know. And know it going to be one of the better sorts to run. Instead of playing the driver Game that NV’s playing… I just load the latest official of NV’s driver page. Next time I see the NVIDIA driver guys at an event I plan to grill them on the topic I’d be interested as to what See what their response would be.… Wouldn't you like to see more offical releases? but yea that sumed it up nicely. But its hard to know what the best to use thats my problem with the whole ordeal.

Like I have always been saying, just use the newest, beta or whql. In the end it’s not worth find a drive that gives you 1fps more. Just use the newest; it should be the best considering bug fixes and speed.

these drivers are pretty sweet, they feel smoother than the 77.77s in Battlefield 2 and my scores are slightly up in 3dmark05.
anyone else tried them yet? |

I've been trying the Xtreme G drivers from tweaksrus.com. They always seem to offer a slightly better IQ with no difference in speed for me. I'm hoping they're going to prepare one for these.
It's a shame the level of quality of drivers and the frequency of official releases is not as good as the ATI Catalyst team can provide these days. The wife has a 9800 Pro (my cast off ) and it's nice to see improvements even in that card despite all the newer ones which have been released. I don't expect it to be very long before nvidia do their usual and the 6800 cards suffer from the newer drivers.Anyone else tried these? Mainly EQ2 and BF2 I'm playing at the moment, with a little DVD watching here and there. Think I'll check to see if tweaksrus have an XG version yet, will post a link if they do.

And how is the image quality with these drivers ? Any differences in "Quality" and "High Quality" to the 77.77 drivers ?

As long as they are WHQL certified, I'm happy. It tells me that it passed some form of testing.
