Psychedelic hell

I have just bought a new P-IV pc running WinXP pro with an nVidia 6800GT 256MB chip in a Gigabyte card. I have an NEC 19" CRT monitor.

When I play a DVD it looks like I'm having a psychedelic flashback - all bright colours and gritty video. I've been trying to adjust the colour settings but nothing much seems to make a difference. I just installed the latest drivers but they didn't fix it.

I am surprised that I would even have to adjust it at all...surely a DVD should display with the correct colours straight out of the box? Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

PS I just noticed that in the color management setting I have no color profile. If I click 'Add' it opens up a folder with dozens of choices. Should I add one and if so which one?

Thks.

Update....Eureka! In the Overlay dropdown in Colour Correction, the Gamma was pushed up all the way to the right for some reason. I changed that to the middle and its displaying correctly, Whoo Hoo!

What drivers are you using? I know that the 77.72's waashed out the video overlay's, I was experienceing that as well. After updating the drivers the problem went away. Just grab the 77.77's from the Nvidia site and the problem will go away.
