geForce go 6800 issues
I have a nVidia geForce go 6800 card in my laptop, and I've been having some serious issues. I get, what I guess you could call 'screen corruption' (almost like static, just it's ball different colors, and than the screen begins turning on and off every 5 seconds or so) a lot of the time on startup, especially if it's plugged into the AC adapter. I have driver version 7.6.5.0 dated 3/24/05.
I'm not sure that this is an issue with my graphic card, but I couldn't think of anything else that would cause this sort of problem. |

It sounds tho, like the monitor connector may be loose |

I was thinking of trying the newest Omega drivers, since I use those on my home desktop (ATI Radeon x800) and I haven't had any problems with them yet. If that's not the issue, is there any way I could go about fixing the moniter connection without messing up my warrenty?

I have the exact same issues
Well our not alone... I have a BRAND NEW m-7700 alienware laptop with the Geforce GO 6800 installed. I have the same version as you do and it also sometimes flickers when I run a high end game. When I attempt to run Battlefield 2 it will always tell me that the graphics driver is lower than the intended version and that I need to update. When I run battlefield 2 the graphics are all out of whack....the shadows are there and then they aren't.
I have attempted to find updated graphics drivers but to no avail... Alienware AND Nvidia do not support it for some reason... Why is that? You would think that they would have driver updates from the 3rd month of last year!! Unless they believe that all the new updates will work with the Go 6800...NOT!!! It always tells me that they are not compatible. What are we to do? Where do we go ? Gamemaster |

I found the drivers
Oddly enough after I wrote that I was determined to find the answer...and I have.
It is the nvidia 7.3.9.1 video driver. It is the latest that will encompass the Nvidia Geforce Go6800 graphics adapter. I installed it and everything miraculously cleared up...Hmm...wonder why Alienware never puts the latest drivers in with their LATEST laptop. Anyways here is a site that will help you get what you need... http://www.pro-star.com/drivers/D9T-D900T/NVIDIA_7931.zip If that doesnt work then simply put in Geforce go 6800 7.9.3.1 drivers in any search engine. That should take care of things for you all. Never fear, updates are out, its just a matter of finding them. I am currently looking for updates for the Realtek High Definition Audio platform...they are like over a year old...In a NEW alienware laptop..go figure... Gamemaster |
