Dunno if this has been posted before, but i think it has just recently been released. I know its no 7800gtx or X1800XL but for us PCI only owners it looks pretty good. I wonder how it will perform? Cant find any benchmarks. If someone could I would be greatful.

# Bus Type: PCI
# Memory: 128MB DDR
# Core Clock: 350MHz

the 6200 is a bottom line newer card. It's certainly not a work horse and I would advise buying it if you plan to play games in the future. Spend the extra few buck and get a 6800 or even a 6600.

http://www.nvnews.net/previews/geforce_6200/index.shtml some benchies
http://www.digital-daily.com/video/n...up/index02.htm and some more graphs

If you don't play games, its a good card, but for longevity's sake, i'd get something a bit more powerful.

Like i said this is a PCI card for "us" PCI owners. the 6800 and 6600 dont come in PCI format. only AGP or PCI-E.

oh, I see. I saw PCI and assumed PCI express, my bad. As far as that goes, I would say this is possibly top of the line for you. In fact, I didn't know they even made one in PCI.

I know. I was a bit concerned at first thinking that this was a big hoax. But i went to my local PCWORLD and there it was on the shelf (PCWORLD suck and i never thought they would have one as they seem very rare). Its £50 in the shop but i haven't got it yet.

i assume this is for a third computer? The two in your sig definately have an agp or pci-e slot. I definately wouldnt even expect the newer games to be playable on that card, so in that case buy it if you need a replacement display card but if you have onboard, stick with that

The first computer in my sig is a Dell. So i only have PCI slots. The second one is my PCI-E computer. I'm thinking of getting a 6600gt for it.

ahh sweet mate. have you played any other higher-end games like Doom 3, Far Cry, Fear or Q4? I know they obviously wont run on super high settings, but i would like to know how they perform on this card.

If you could post any other of your FPS from other games then that would help.

Cheers

@Randomletters: Its a Dell so, you know, nothing really more I can say :P

@IEMC: That sounds really good. I may invest in one of these. Do you think it is possible to unlock the extra 4 pipelines? Since pretty much all Geforce 6200's are really toned down versions of the normal 6600?

That would be really cool if you could unlock those extra pipes.

I got my Dell about 3 years ago. Its the Dimension 2400 so it only has PCI slots. Not even AGP or anything.

But do you think this card (6200) will be an improvement over my FX5200?

Here are the specs of both:

Here is the FX 5200 specs:

Memory Clock Speed: 400 MHz
RAMDAC Clock Speed: 350 MHz
Graphics Processor Data Width: 64-bit
Video Memory Installed: 128 MB
63 million vertices/sec.
CineFX 1.0 engine

And the 6200 specs:

Core Clock: 350MHz
RAMDACs: Dual 400MHz
Graphics Processor Data Width: 128-bit
Video Memory Installed: 128MB DDR
263 million vertices/sec.
CineFX 3.0 engine
Full DirectX 9.0 support
NVIDIA Ultrashadow II technology
64-bit floating point texture filtering and blending

Maybe I've missed something, but surely it would be wiser to just replace the motherboard? I mean, I assume you can do that even with a Dell? Seems to make more sense to me than trying to milk PCI.

No you cant change to any other motherboard because of Dell's case chassis. They make it so that it is pretty much impossible to change to a different motherboard.

If i were you i would get a fan for the card if it doesn't already have one. The artifacts tell me that the card cannot handle that much power without cooling in place.

So get a fan or revert back to the original bios and pipelines.

Hi guys, just purchased a PCI (not express!) geforce 6200 over the weekend. Stumbled upon this forum when hunting for overclocking info. Like other 2400 owners, I'd investigated the possibility of upgrading my mobo but couldn't be bothered with the hassle (it's actually one of the reasons I purchased a basic pc - to keep myself from gaming!). Anyhoo, my dell can be upgraded (with a motherboard that fits the case) but I'd rather build a new pc than start on my dell. In the meantime, I wanted a graphics card that'd give me better video and an s-video out. Imagine my surprise when I temporarily apprehended a friend's copy of Call of Duty 2. Plays well on high settings. Doesn't set the world on fire, but it plays and looks great. Really. Halo's not bad either...a great card purcase for 40 quid. From what I can gather, it's the best PCI available.

If there is anyone out there still listening in on this thread I need some help if you can. I picked up a BFG 3D Fusion version of the Nvidia 6200 PCI 128MB (until I pocket enough for the 7800 series) and I am having a problem. I don't experience this in games or anything of that sort (that I notice). In menus though (installation screens, folders, webpages, etc.) I get these little black and white lines (either black or white depending on what it is showing up on). They look like dashes and they appear in different places each time and there are a different amount each time.

Any ideas?

What are they and how do I get rid of them?

I have tried the latest nVidia drivers and the ones supplied on the disc (forceware 77.77) and no difference.

CPU: Pentium 4 630 3.0Ghz w/HT
RAM: 1GB Dual Channel 4200 DDR2
MoBo: ECS 945P-A 1.1
PSU: 450w
Total of 6 case fans.

Quite a number of people are having this same problem with this card. Wait until Nvidia release drivers that are supported for the 6200 pci version.

Out of interest, how do the games perform with the 6200 pci? Have you played any next gen games like FEAR, Quake 4 or Doom 3 etc?

I have played Unreal 2004 on full blasted settings, Age of Empires 3 full settings, LOTR: Battle for Middle Earth full settings, World of Warcraft full settings, Area 51 full settings. I have not tested Doom 3 yet or FEAR but if you are interested I will post back when I do.

I have not tested them yet because I was not sure if my above problem was serious. I did not know whether or not I should take this card back and get something else. I did not know that Nvidia did not fully support (without bugs) this card through thier drivers. I thought this card had been out for some time now.

If it will be fixed that is great. I only have untill this weekend to return or exchange so thanks for the quick reply.

Nvidia should release new drivers that support this card. It hasn't been out too long. Around the end of December to the start of this new year is when they were released. I would hold on to it for a bit, as i am sure Nvidia will solve this problem

Hello

I'm having same problem as you have, and I really don't think that those white and black short lines are fault of Nvidia driver as someone mentioned.
I picked up same BFG 3D Fuzion 6200 128MB PCI bus and even thou It's a sister of BFG this card is suffering from poor writen video bios in my opinion.
I used Ati Visiontek 9200 256MB PCI and my system didn't have any problem to recognize this card as a primary video accelerator including OGL and Direct3D.
After that I got BFG 5500 OC 256MB PCI bus card and this card is the best so far in my system recognizing video bios.
Not only it take a very short time on boot to configure this card but it also show video bios model number before anything else is loaded.
For systems with originally onboard videos this could be the crucial thing.
Because of proper configuration I could overclocked this card even more without any problems with Nvidia driver+ coolbits. This card is also recognized as primary for OGL and Direct3D. (DirectX)
Then all of a sudden I got this 3D Fuzion card, I've meet power requirements but there are these bothering dashes, plus even thou my system is recognizing this card, OGL and Direct3D is only listed as Intel Extreme Graphics.
There is nothing about GeForce OGL and DirectX being video accelerator.
Everest home edition can't no longer read this card GPU and DirectX information.
Yes this 6200 PCI is beating my FX 5500 in about every aspect in many cases by huge margin, especially FPS but my system won't go alone well with this card.
Any try overclocking with coolbits result in system freeze and it won't take even just a little tinny overclock nada.
With this strange configured computer this card is otherwise working and now BFG released their GeForce 6200 OC 256MB PCI bus and I'm mad that I bought 3D Fuzion 6200 with only 128MB memory.
Unfortunately with my very happy experience with BFG card I'm thinking to switch to BFG 6200 PCI card because I strongly believe that their bios will be for sure writen waaaay much better than 3d Fuzion bios.
So far my Compuke Pukesario is working OK and my little gaming is fine with PCI bus card.
Will shop for next, more gaming machine in about a year from now
One more thing , this 6200 can't be unlocked for more pipes and is only 64-bit memory width interface !!!! both 3D fuzion and also new BFG 6200 OC 256 MB PCI bus.

PS: I'm sorry for my grammar.

Well, as for me, I now have to find a way to get rid of this card, I can wait no longer. I sat and waited for the next set of Nvidia drivers and with the clean installation of this new set the problem got worse. More artifacts and now my PC restarts more often when under the stress of a 3D environment.

Now that I have waisted all of my time trying to resolve this issue I have killed my return policy, found out that 3D fuzion is a sister company and I do not get the generous 24/7 support of BFG, I get a 2 year warranty instead of the Liftime warranty supplied by BFG and I am stuck with a piece of crap card that can't even look me in the eyes for fear that I might snap it in half. If many people are suffering from the same issue this means it is not a defective card but the manufacturers error in product. I highly doubt that they will offer a much needed replacement of a different card (not the same model card but supposedly with a fix) or money beck.

"Just as I was replied to over at Computing.net, if you bought the 3DFuzion 6200 PCI you just waisted your money."

If anyone has any resolves to this issue, any help in any way, I am sure that many people who thought there actually was one last Power Card for the PCI world, would really appriciate it. Thank you.
