GeForce 5700 Go Drivers?
I have Acer aspire 1712smi laptop. A great overall pc
, but i have this small problem, its graphic's card drivers are very old !!! version 53,51 from acer i think! I want to try some new drivers i found to get more out of my video card! but they are not official as nvidia does not support Go models in the forceware releases... The drivers i found are omega 1.6693 based on the 66.93 forceware, the DHZer0point 0.8195 (Forceware 81.95) and some other optimized nvidia drivers by regenaration based on 82.12 forceware! they all say that they support laptop graphic cards! i have never before used other drivers than the official ones so i dont know if there is any danger for my vga? If i install them and i see that they are problematic will i be able to roll back to the old ones? Is there any possibility that my hardware is damage in any way? Or i want even be able to boot windows, so i'll need to format my pc? PLZ someone help me! if someone have tried some of these drivers or have tried some other ones i would like there opinion!![]() |

You should be just fine installing these drivers. Personally, I would go with the DHZeropoints, as the Omega's are a bit old, and the other ones I've never heared of. Use Drivercleaner for best results (http://www.drivercleaner.net/)
First, uninstall your current drivers (add/remove in the windows control panel), then restart into safe mode (press F8 during the system post (black screen at boot)). In safe mode, run Drivercleaner for the nvidia filter. Reboot and install the DHZeropoint's. Things should work fine, you will be happy. For your info, if you ever have a driver related problem, you can boot into safe mode (it boots with only core drivers) and uninstall the drivers to clear up any problems. Also, incompatable drivers will not hurt your hardware, unless they overclock it or change voltages in some way (I can't think of any that do, certainly not the Omega's or DHZeropoints). Anyway, give it a shot and let us know how it goes. Also, feel free to ask more questions. |

As you told me i used clean driver, and i have installed the DHZeropoint 0.8195 drivers, cuase as you said tha omega's ones are a little old! the games i used to play, and my system overall are runnig great, i don't know if better than before cause i didn't benchmarked the before and after drivers, but certainly the DHZeropoint drivers are really great, very optimizable(well at least from my old 53,51) and very stable so far i have used them! I strongly recommend them to those stuck with the really old versions that came with their laptops for GO models and that seem to be forgotten by nvidia and their manufacturers! Great work DHZeropoint, keep it up! i'm expecting your next release!
