Gateway FPD2185W

Well....tomorrow being my birthday...I'm getting one!

I'm stoked...I've been shopping around for a while, and the dell's just aren't as cool and cost more, the Samsung isn't wide screen or High Def, the Sony is ungodly expensive, the HP costs more due to built in speakers [oooh, aah], and so on and so forth.

But yea....1680x1050@75, 21" 16:10, 8ms gray-gray response [meaning probably 12-ish black to white], 90 degree rotation with swivel 1-finger base, picture in picture, VGA/DVI[HDCP]/Composite/Component inputs with dual USB ports.....

...in short....this thing is gunna be WICKED running DVI out of a 6800GT

And perhaps best of all, i can reclaim my desk space from that atrocious 70 pound trinitron 21" CRT

Nice LCD PJ - I know you'll enjoy it! One of the guys at the shop bought one from a large retailer about an hour away from here, and he loves it - the plethora of inputs makes it extremely flexible and the specs are great! PVA panel - nice...

I love that monitor! I always see it at Best Buy and say maybe one day I will buy it but then the price always hits me... $600 is a lot but I guess it's cheaper than a 30" tv and the only thing it's missing is the speakers! And the other thing I could not figure out is if it was ready for Vista with that new protection.... forgot the name of it.

I got on of those. Its a really great choice man. I got mine for like 2months now and never complain on it. It has all I need, 1650x1050 is a good size. In games its awesome. Good luninosity. 8ms gtg (10real btb). Good LCD for price :P

You got the right choice!

This thing is gorgeous.

Got it hooked up with a 6 foot gold plated Belkin Pure|AV DVI cable....

It ghosts very minimally [only noticable if you really look for it], but for a 21" LCD panel at 16x10, thats to be expected

DVI being digital has no scan frequency/clock, so yes..it eliminates "character drift" you often see on text in LCD screens on VGA, as well as minimizing ghosting.

as for pics, i gotta wait for my roommate to get back with his camera first, as i bought this instead of a camera

The 21" Widescreen comes with built-in innovative compatibility features so you can handle tomorrow's technology today. The HDCP Video Content Encryption Chip allows encrypted high-definition video to be played on the display through the DVI port. The Protection Video Path ensures the display is compatible with future software packages.
Apparently it does.

Hmm..thinking of getting one now.

BTW, Happy B-Day.
