Anyone any good at car audio or better Mustang audio? I have mach audio and well thats the up grade sound but it still sucks and I know it's a pain to replace but if anyone else has any car audio suggestions that would be a great help! What kind of speakers/subs you have?

I would go with Phoenix Gold.. just because of my experience with the quality of everything they make.. and price is reasonable too. Sound quality.. better than anything I have heard.. listening head to head in an audio shop on a big board full of 40 different speakers.. That was with coaxials though.. (edit- Phoenix gold coaxials and some other brands separates- but the PG's coax's sounded better than the other brands separates as well.. that is saying something)
-subs are a different story. JL, etc. for high end.. I personally like MTX for their mid-ranged subwoofer product line.

I have a relatively inexpensive 4 channel Pioneer amp (3 including the "Optimus" amps I have that are no longer being made, but were made by Pioneer- or whoever makes the Pioneer amps) .. Anyway they all work great and have for quite a few years.. they stand up well to abuse.. great midrange line of amps.

Of course the more you spend, the more you get, and you have to look at different manufacturers.

no, that's what i was going to get. my 8 didn't come w/the 7 speaker premium bose sound (which is ok, because it's a bitch to upgrade the stereo if you get that package). w/my 2 sony 10s i had in the trunk, my music sounded good anyways .

Heat is an issue though. It was always a problem in my 8, especially during summer, or any warm day. The trunk in the 8 is so small, that you need to have ventilation going through there to preven the AMP from going into safe mode and shutting off. I always just removed the center fold down compartment and that was it, but it might be different in your mustang though.

i have 4 pioneers in my vette (2x 4x6, 2x 6x9) and they sound pretty damn good to me. of course, im also running with out an amp right now, so im just getting power from the weak head unit. 2rms x 4 channel i think. the speakers are rated at 20 and 40rms per channel. once i put an amp in, it should be much better.

definately sound much better and cleaner. you might not want to run the speakers at full blast until you do get an amp put in though. from my understanding, the speakers will be under powered and burn out much quicker than normal life expectancy.

i think BWX would know more about that though since he's the "speaker expert"

Well I guess I will have to do some speaker research! But like always I need to set my budget or I know I will go all out and find out I can't afford it and end up in a big black hole lol

The Sub I like from MTX is this one!!! Now only if my stang could hold it...

I rather like the Mach system.....but yes...it is difficult, nigh impossible to upgrade...I'm debating adding a sub and leaving the rest as is for simplicity

can't replace a mach head unit...it's molded into the dash...you have to replace the entire console.

I'm looking into ripping out the mach and getting a shaker system though, since the shaker has MP3 capability and the mach doesn't...but for now 6 disc in dash is just fine

6 disk in dash changer? god... im feeling a little primitive here. ive got an AM/FM with cassete. if i want cd, or mp3, i need to plug the adapter into my cassete deck and hook it up to my portable cd player.

CG: These look interesting. I neither have a car nor these, so I can't help much.

gotcha.....it's the same way in the RX-8. the head unit and in dash 6 disc changer (if you get the in dash cd changer option like mine was) is part of the dash board and AC/heater cluster. in order to make a customized aftermarket one, to fit the 8.

It's actually a subwoofer.. the biggest one in the world at the time it was made.

Yeah those Solo-Baric subs are nice.. it's nice to get good deep bass and still have space in your car.
I build the box that is in my car- it weighs about 100 pounds.. 2 huge 3inch diameter ports.. it's really stupid.

I think thats the best way to go. It may not look that nice but the weight will prevent at least for the most part anyone thinking about steeling your subs

And I am thinking of coming up with a way I can bolt my sub box to my car so it would take someone a really long time to take!!!

Well at least you would get insurance money that way. Insurance does not really cover car audio!

my friends car got broke into and they stole about 900 worth of car audio equipment. they called up their insurance agent and the insurance company coverd it. i think he got a check from them for 1000. 900 for the stereo equip. and 100 for a new window.

that's cool. but did he include the aftermarket stereo though? insurance companies will cover aftermarket stuff if you pay for it on your insurance policy
