I saw that, a long time ago..
That guy is a moron.. he says a lot of stupid things about a lot of cars- he pukes when going around corners, says things that aren't true showing his lack of knowledge, calls Gran Turismo a "simulator" when it is not and there are PC games that are... All the things he says he hates about the Corvette are very subjective anyway. I like the show and everything, but that guy needs to go.

I have seen a lot of reviews that say it has a hard ride, but it is supposed to.. That is why real race cars have harsh rides (a lot more than a road going Corvette).. I have had a car with a harsh ride before and I actually liked it. You can feel more of the road through the chassis.
Well, if he "IS" the show, why does he say so many dumb things (not just about the Corvette- I am talking about all of the shows)... Maybe he is trying to be funny?

Well, unless you have driven both you can't say anything about comparing the two. It is all subjective. Anyway... just in the past few days on videos I saw him throw up after driving that other car -or fake throwing up which is just as dumb... Calling the blow off valve a "waste gate" when technically they are two different things, and that noise he was talking about was the BOV. Saying "no body can explain" anti lag.. More like "I am too lazy to explain it", or "I am trying to be funny, but I'm not"... Understanding British humor is one thing, there is plenty of British shows on TV - I understand the humor, most of it anyway.. That guy just isn't funny. He comes off as a wimpy wannabe most of the time. edit- Oh another thing that is moronic about the show-- testing cars ion the rain and comparing the times to cars they test on 70 degree F days... Then saying the times make any damn difference at all is completely retarded.

I forgot you were impossible to please... You are right BWX, every car show should explain anti-lag (which is explained on their website as he said during the show) and every car show should mesure the road temperture before driving because 20 and 30C is a big difference and they should tell how many practice laps they've done to see if the tires are warm enough or not. I'm sorry, I shouldn't have posted this
Forgive me BWXEDIT: I've been in both a 911 (three different ones ranging from 1990s to today's) and two different Vettes and I totally agree that the vette has a horrible horrible horrible ride |

I think this entire debate about you hating Corvettes has been brought up about 96 times at DH.. it is no secret. You have posted this vid before as well haven't you?
If you don't want to argue about corvettes, quit POSTing about them and telling everyone how much you hate them when you know they are obviously not as bad as you think.. :-/ It's also no secret that guy hates Corvettes.. so who cares? edit- Quote:
Oh and Sandok, please.. don't whine man. it will be ok.. I promise, everything is going to be aallll right.. LOL Last edited by BWX; Jun 9, 2006 at 09:39 PM. |

I don't hate the Z06 mate... You sooo missunderstand... The normal corvette's I've never had a love for since they are cheap yet slow but the Z06 is a REAL man's car:
noise, power, acceleration and brute torque And I hadn't posted that vid before BWX... You gotta stop making these things up Again, for the record I've been in many sports cars and I dislike vettes but the Z06 which I'd love to drive someday is a real special car in my book. Prejudice is such a bad thing You make all my threads go to hell ![]() And he also doesn't hate the vette... God your sooo biased

I read a lot of posts.. someone posted it somewhere.. I saw the exact same vid a few weeks ago. I got there by a post where someone posted that link. I must have thought it was you because the guy bashes the Corvette.

Maybe it was on another forum or something.. I did see it though. I think he bashes it at the end.. basically complaining about insignificant things when talking about a "sports" car. Actually it was probably at racesimcentral.. there a couple Eurosnob-Corvette-haters over there.

Well he does explain the price difference in between a 60k£ sports car (the Z06) and a 160k£ sports car (575 Maranello). And to be fair though, we europeans have never had a love for your corvettes, no matter how much you guys rant on about em! Doesn't mean we're racist or anything... We just got better cars to buy!

BWX, I lived in the US for 3 years and many of the cars there are all american... Which is typical and I never said you guys have euro boxes. But again, it had nothing to do with what I said:
the vette doesn't sell outside europe because we have better "sports cars" to buy. I never talked about you guys buying our cars... Every market buys ITS cars first... And Darklord, I'm talking about the newer Zo6, I doubt I'll ever find an old american car in europe to test drive AND I know you think the ride is perfcet... I advise you to go in a high class beamer or Merc or porsche or something and then still think that... |

And a vette is a onroad SPORTS car, not a race car... A Westchester is a on-road race car And again, a BMW M5 (sports car) or a SL55 (sports car) are just as fast as a "normal corvette" (not talking the Z06 here) and much comfier to be in... But hey, this is a pointless argument since you can't compare those cars because of $$$. I do understand the appeal of the vette (cheap fun sports car) and to obtain that, they gotta loose some of the things I consider manditory on a car when I spend alot of money (leather, high quality brushed alumium interior, great ride and handling, etc...) Of cours you guys don't have to agree and I understand that! American culture and European car culture are very very different and both are aiming completely different things.

I still can't call it "cheap" though.. It is still an expensive car for most people.. not even obtainable for most middle class people unless they have their priorities totally messed up.. or are single and old with no kids. (couldn't really have it as your only car)
True it is much less expensive than other sports cars in it's category, but it is in SUPERcar territory as far as performance goes, so it is being compared to extremely expensive cars. But about imports here- there are tons. Maybe I see more now because I live in a semi big city.. I did not see as many where I grew up in a much smaller city.

You admit that the culture is very different yet you continue to bash an American icon, namely the Corvette. Maybe you should stick to European cars to speak wonderous things about and not bash American cars, as you have little to no experience with them.
I personally own a Chrysler and a Porsche, and they both have their upsides and downsides. The Porsche is the more fun of the 2 to drive. It just "feels better" going down the road. But I can't put both my wife and my son in the Porsche, and I certainly won't drive the Porsche to the grocery store. Its for longer drives, preferably alone, so I can listen to the music that comes from the motor and the drivetrain. I don't even play the stereo in that car... ever. The Chrysler is my daily driver. It gets better mileage, stands up to winter, and seats 4 relatively comfortably. I always have the stereo on, be it listening to talk radio or to a CD or a sports broadcast. Overall it does what it was designed to do. When we speak of the Corvette, we speak of a car that has been evolving throughout the years (sorry about the evolution reference, BWX) into an American version of the European supercar. It may not be as refined. It may not be as comfortable, but it most definitely perfoms, and THAT is where we judge our cars, performance. Your statement about poor handling is unfounded. The Z06 pulls 0.99g on the skidpad, which is exactly the same as the Porsche 911 Carrera 4S (reference http://www.caranddriver.com/shortroa...arrera-4s.html). It also was able to run the slalom course at 70.3 MPH, just 0.8 MPH slower than the same car. The major difference here is that the Porsche costs $99,975 and the Corvette list at $65,800. With the extra $30,000 I could redo the suspension and tune the engine to absolutely CRUSH the Porsche's performance. I don't really want to judge which is better. They are both beautiful, functional machines that do what they set out to do. They have different approaches, and appeal to different types of people. Personally I wouldn't throw either one of them out of my garage, and given a choice I would be hard pressed to pick.

LOL... well, God didn't create the Corvette, and it didn't evolve from a roller skate, so I forgive you.. In a recent poll (announced today) something like 87% of Americans believe that God had something to do with Creation.. Only 13% believe God had nothing to do with it.. Interesting fact for you. Let's talk about something else now. How about shoes? What kind of shoes do you guys like? I like Timberland boots, they last forever and are comfortable. of course my Brazilian leather dress shoes are cool too, but I need more ankle support since I just about tore my ankle off in a car accident almost a decade ago.. boy I am getting old.

LOL- yeah my Timberlands last for years, and also stay looking very good. I had some army issue swamp boots.. They were kind of high cut and black.. had some cool looking pattern on the bottom, like angular. They came from my older bro who never actually even wore them. They were so hard and uncomfortable I couldn't wear them anymore though. I am confident they would have lasted the rest of my life if I could have broken them in though.
I haven't seen them in years. maybe I can find them on the net somewhere. i remember the tread pattern most of all. edit- holy crap after all these years I found them.. http://www.armynavydeals.com/asp/pro...KU=AL6852&ST=2 I should have kept them.. 90 dollars! I guess they are called Jungle boots.
