anyone here know OSX reasonably well?

Okay so...back in the day I decided that playing videos from the browser was a BAD IDEA! I dislike it. I enjoy clicking on a video...having it save to the desktop or download folder or whatever...and being done with it! This can sometimes take some work to do...but NEVER! EVER have I met so much resistance as I have with OSX! I have even had the displeasure of having an apple rep tell me "just leave it alone and you'll learn to love it" I'm younger than this guy and I've been using computers longer than he has. He started using computers in college and I started using computers when I was LITERALLY in diapers! UHG! No one EVER tells me to just live with it. I screw with computers until they do exactly what I want which is how it should be.

Anyway does anyone know how to do this? I thought I found the setting in Quicktime but it still just keeps opening videos in the browser instead of downloading them. And no...I dont wish to right click and hit "save as..." that is a pain.

wow calm down man. try vista for a week then come back to OSx, you will appreciate its speed, well laid out interface and overall ease of use!!

firstly ditch quicktime, its perfectly fine for its own formats, but you need this program to really enjoy OSX for media

As for wanting to download videos to the hardware with a simple click, the standard procedure in most operating systems is to play the file via your browser. what is so complex about hitting the right button and downloading, are you seriously that lazy ?

yes.

im seriously that lazy.

and yeah I know OSX is nice. Thats why I bought a macbook. I love osx.

the trouble is that I want it to work exactly the way I want...This wasnt an issue in windows.

Basically see...since its a trackpad, rightcliking is kind of obnoxious. Also, I should just be able to click on the video and download this. It was never a big deal in windows. Sigh...

Oh well. And yeah I already ditched QT. Even in pro form its annoying. VLC is far better.

ive been using OSX for a long time and to be perfectly honest I have never wanted to automatically download videos, as most of the time id be playing files in the browser, I cant see it being a standard desire for an ordinary user either.

However, as with most things there are means and ways to get an OS to do what you want, you just need to research it.

Have you tried any download managers for OSX?

http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en...r+os+x&spell=1

I am sure some of them have auto functions for grabbing links when you click them immediately.

If you are using firefox, I like this extension called 'media player connectivity' - which allows me to avoid having movies play 'in-line' and be able to save clips that are even 'javascript protected/linked/loaded'. Its definitly worth looking into.
