Sad Really bad cold...

Can anyone recommend some really powerful drugs to help me through this time of runny nose, sore throat and headaches? My usual lemsip + lockets mix isn't working too well

VicodenES, fixes me up proper everytime. It doesn't do squat for the symptoms, but they no longer bother me. Other than that; tylenolES, sudafed, & a double-shot of NyQuil at night is what I usually do. (And me wife HATES that I like NyQuill, she thinks it's in the same league as snakeoil...but it works great for me. )

Hey, I'm a big guy and I got a pretty high chemical tolerance! (Advantages of a mis-spent youth. )

Besides, I was joking.

I dont think vicoden is available in the UK.... im sure there is some equivalent.

nothing really stops or cures the cold, just bed, alot of vitamin C. maybe a hot whiskey and some TLC.

I like echinacea and things like DayQuil and NyQuil are good, too. Z, Vicodin is a powerful painkiller (it contains hydrocodone, which is like morphine's little brother) -- even if an equivalent was available in the UK, I'm not convinced it'd be the best thing for a cold.

Morphine - > Codine -> Hydrocodone ... I have been on massive doses of all the above... dont much care for it because of the detached feeling that those types of painkillers cause. However I do like Perkedan, or Perkaset... for when my back starts giving me fits.

Hell, enough VicodenES will cure anything for me...or at least give me that wonderful, "Heh, who gives a sh!t?", kind of attitude towards whatever misery I'm in.

(NOTE-Use of Vicoden without a doctor's prescription is a felony in most states I believe, I don't really use it like candy....my wife would NEVER allow it. Piece-o-advice: If you want to live a chemically dependant lifestyle, DON'T MARRY A PHARMACIST! They can tell, they will bust ya everytime. )

Ahh, I prescribe 50mg Diphenhydramine (eg. Benadryl/Nytol/etc) + 500mg each of Aspirin and Acetaminophen (eg. Tylenol.)

This combo will stop the nasal problems, headaches, etc. and help you drift off to la-la land.
If you have Excedrin for the Aspirin+Acetaminophen, it'll also give you a little boost of caffeine which I love o-so-much.

I just really don't like pills, tho. Hate swallowing pills

BLEH, So do I.
I rarely take a pill even for a headache

No prescriptions UBER although I do have some HORSE PILLS for my back that would choke Freddy Mercury, LOL

Stay away from Codine based products as they due contain caffine.
Sucks if you want to sleep.
A little Neocitrine and some regular aspirin or others work well.
Depending on your system.

Hope your feeling better soon UBER

SICK, BLEH
PILLS, BLEH

Hate them both

Careful though - too much acetaminophen and aspirin together can cause stomach problems (and for that matter, so can ibuprofen and acetaminophen)...

Mac Daddy, I must say, your avatar is ****ing scary. Wolf, percocet is truly awesome (acetaminophen + oxycodone) -- I was prescribed that when I had my wisdom teeth pulled.

I missed this yesterday... Boiled wine? With a little sugar (or else it's too sour), and some aromatic plants. We use this a lot, with great results. Red wine is supposed to do better.

I had percocet when I got my two bottom wisdom teeth cut out and two top teeth removed. My bottom wisdom teeth were impacted and leaning on the teeth beside them. The percocet was great I slept for two days. I had to take one every two hours. I wasn't awake long enough to feel any pain so I was happy.

Lol One of the most frequently used is cinnamon, the other I don't know the English name, it looks like small nails (and called like that in Romanian).

Yeah, those. Cloves then. But just a few. It really is a good recipe - and not unpleasent either - I thought it was used around the world, but since nobody mentioned it...

We also use boiled "tuica" (pr. "tzuica"), which only takes cloves. Tuica is sort of fruit brandy, more often from plums, double distilation (40-60°). Imagine boiling that - this is for severe colds

Something that's really really good is some boiling apple cider (unpasteurized apple juice, for the most part) with a couple of crushed cloves and a cinnamon stick... hmmmmm... you can use the cinnamon stick as a straw if you find a good one, and then it tastes doubly good
