UK: Moon is now heading into eclipse

An Eclipse of the moon, when it should appear in dim red or orange, is about to begin.

Does that prophesy some sort of disaster?

I got to see the tail end of the eclipse while I was out driving tonight. It was in full eclipse just as it rose from the horizon. We in the East USA didn't get to see it on the beginning.

Saw it last night, but wasn't up to the hype... more "smoky" than red or orange.

Yeah, should have tried some pictures, though the 35mm wasn't loaded, and my digital lacks optical zoom.

I know the normal exposure for the moon is the same as for a sunny day - since it is an object in full sun, and the distance does not have a significant effect. One problem with cameras that lack manual override, is they will inevitably over-expose, and autofocus cameras cannot be forced into "exposure lock" using a nearer lit object, as they would also lock the focus (many cameras will lock settings if the shutter button is half pressed).

Please excuse what I typed last night but I was under the influence.....

Anyhow, I took her out and we had nice walk along the river. Nice yellowy-orangy and BIG moon. We had dinner and a bottle of wine after.
