Jameson Whiskey (Dublin) - motto ''without fear'
Edit: On a linguistic front, If the liquor is from Scotland then it's spelt Whisky (no 'e'). This is due to the different pronounciation of 'water' when spoken in gaelic.

Learning more about this.
It seems the entire English speaking world says Scotch to mean Scotch whiskey except in the UK where they simply say Whisky to mean scotch whiskey. I personally cannot stand the taste of scotch and prefer rye whiskey or bourbon. There is a time for whiskey and a time for gin, rum or vodka (or all three). Tequila is another liquor I cannot drink.

no to be rude but those r not the good stuff. both r main stream mass produced whiskys. your opinion of them is an entirely different matter of course
crown royal does have a reserve bottling that is tasty...my list - knob creek, caol ila(any), jameson 16yr malt, lagavulin, balvenie(any but especially their port & dbl wood).

well I won't bore anyone with anything too preachy (aside from mike none of you guys would know a decent quality whisky if it smacked you in the face
), but if it's just something you can buy in a supermarket or some such, then its gotta be Lagavulin. recently I've been enjoying a ltd ed Edradour, and of course me old faithful single cask bottling from a long defunct distillery that was bottled the year I was born (and is the nicest single malt I've ever tasted. which is a shame, cos there ain't another bottle of it in the world )you guys should have look around Royal Mile whiskies , they do some pretty rare stuff and they really know what they're talking about

that's cos Jack is a Tennessee whiskey rather than a straight forward bourbon, it's made differently. it's also absolutely fucking vile.

i still dont understand how come so many people think it is great whisky. especially when the american alternative is bourbon & there r quite a few good ones available. marketing i guess.
i agree with your 'vile' assesment.
