Metallica's 'St. Anger' Is 'Brutal As Hell!'

Source: Blabbermouth.net

Quote:
Writer Martin Carlsson from Sweden's premiere rock/metal publication
Close-Up has filed an exclusive report on five songs from METALLICA's
upcoming album "St. Anger" (due out on June 10) on the magazine's web site,
www.closeupmagazine.net. He told BLABBERMOUTH.NET: "The songs are brutal as
hell, quite possible the most aggressive material the band has ever penned.
They go all over the place ? the attack is non-stop and shockingly
ferocious. Musically, it's twisted, intricate, progressive, fucked-up and,
more often than not, ultra-fast metal with industrial tinges. Lars Ulrich's
trademark thick drum sound is nowhere to be found. Instead, the snare drum
sounds like an oil barrel being smashed into pieces. At times the
double-bass drumming reaches supersonic levels of speed and there are even
parts that border on blast beats! James sings, screams and makes noises that
could be straight out of a gory zombie flick. Traditional guitar solos?
Forget it! It sounds as if SLAYER's Kerry King and AUDIOSLAVE's Tom Morello
have had a big sit-down to decide on how to present the next chapter of the
equilibristic side of the Devil's music. Melodies and catchy choruses?
Forget it! It's all riffs, riffs, riffs? It's truly fucking sick stuff. As
hard as it might to believe, METALLICA have made a musical U-turn that is
nothing but sensational. Judging from these five, as-yet-untitled, songs,
'St. Anger' will, hands down, be the most brutal album ever to be released
by a multi-million selling act."

As a final note, BLABBERMOUTH.NET wishes to confirm that Carlsson was
neither intoxicated nor under the influence of hallucinogenic drugs when he
listened to the album and filed the above report.

Cool

I hope their new album is what he says it will be. I can recommend another album that should be riff heavy and pure heavy all out rock. *coughmysig'snewalbumfacelesscough*

Bah Metallica is dead. I used to be the the biggest Metallica fan around. They've fallen off the planet though. Their new album better be good enough to reserect their name, otherwise.... their gone for good.

As for Godsmack, yes Faceless looks awesome. APRIL 8TH! I Can't wait.

I for one look forward to hearing something raw and on the edge from Metallica again.

Well, in contrast, Hendrix is actually dead, but I still like his stuff maybe because he didn't fall off the planet

I don't understand . . . Do you mean you only like their music if they're popular at that moment?
I personally haven't liked the stuff they've put out in the last 10 years, but I do still like the older stuff.
And of course I as well am interested in this new album

Their dead, as in no one gives a crap about them any more. They used to be huge. They slowly slipped away. That doesn't mean I don't listen to them anymore. I was basically saying that I'm not as big a fan of Metallica as I once was.

I will probably get their new cd just to see how they sound.

I agree with you, most everything after the black album was crap.

And on the point of me only liking "popular" bands, you couldn't be more wrong. I actually like to listen to bands that no one has heard of. I think all the current maistream rock/pop crap is basically crap. I'm know I can name some awesome bands that you've never heard of.

Ah, just didn't know if you stopped liking them because they're not huge anymore, or just coincidentally.
I can assure you there are still people who do care about them; this thread wouldn't be here otherwise

Crash Override is an unknown quantity at this point

what was wrong with load and reload?

it was just a different musical style is all

I dont listen to albums based on who the band is or what their usual sound is.

I listen to the music and vocals and let the work stand on its own merit.

Hero of the Day kicked ass. So did King Nothing. The Unforgiven II was decent even if only a marketing ploy. Until it Sleeps actually has some deep meaning in it.

It's all just based on how you listen to music and not about the band and their style

Back to the Garage

Are you all saying that Metallica is gone back to the garage again? I am interested in the album but I haven't found it yet...

That's because it hasn't been released yet.
