I was channel hopin tonight .......

as I sometimes do and I ended up on MTV2 and I watched a linkin park behind the scenes documentary and it was interesting to see that it took them almost 2 years, and almost a million dollars to produce the new album. And something like 40 chorus versions for their last single.......

A funny thing happened cause right after it, the guy from the White Stripes came on, the singer and he was really cool. He was talking about music, and how things have changed and how technology is just totally taking over everything. He said their new album was made in 10 days, no technology, no synths..... just plug the guitars in. old analogue equipment.

On the back of this I decided to get myself a copy of the white stripes new album and while its not the usual kind of music I would listen to, they dont appear to be wonderful musicans either...... its actually got a charm..... its raw, unproduced...... and im starting to like it.

total opposites eh? and I just heard they entered the chart at No1 and knocked linkin park of the top spot.......... so I guess im not alone in thinking maybe that music today is totally overproduced.

High production values don't necessarily make for a good album. Take Metallica for instance, I think all their old stuff was great compared to the stuff they do now. Their last few albums sound "sissyfied" to me, now that they went mainstream. As far as I'm concerned, "...and Justice For All" was the beginning of the end for Metallica. That was the last album that I actually liked from them.

I have matured quite a bit since those days: I don't party anymore(well, not THOSE kinds of parties anyway ), I don't drink anymore and I don't really care for that thrasher style of music much anymore. I've mellowed to hard-rock, alternative or instrumental techno (and not that sissy sounding stuff either). I can even tolerate orchestra music.

I still like to "jam", just not to the same music that I used to....and nowhere near as loud as I used to.

BUT, I don't care if somebody spent $10 billion producing a rap/hip-hop or country album, I ain't gonna like it. Nope, not a snowball's chance in hell. I'm sure you've all heard about the new music genre that is being created right? You know, the blending of country and rap? They're going to call it CRAP. I could just hear it now:

Roll them biscuit's across the floor,
My girlfriend's husband's bangin' on the door,
He didn't know she was a whore.....

Iffin I could just fetch a little luck,
And Iffin I could just get to my pick-up truck,
I could get the gun outta the rack,
and I could have my girlfriend back....

The police ain't gonna catch me,
Cause my truck does 160,
So, come on baby, get me a beer,
Then set yourself down right here....

AMEN to that, O my brother!

But I must say, there are still producers with great talent, who know how to mesh things well

Funny thing?

I've never heard either of 'em. I've been hearing a lot of talk about Linkin Park and all I keep thinking of is "The Lincoln Park Pirates" by Steve Goodman.

Dig, be glad you never herd of them, they are a really bad combination of pop, rock, and rap music.

Lol, personally I don't care what anyone says about any music
Heh, even if they are ragging on "my" music, well . . . it's not "my" music, is it? It's the artist's, let them get offended
Basically, yes people have different opinions, and the way I see it, nobody's is the "right" one anyway, so who cares?
Just listen to what you like
