Your real life...
So here's the thread where you discuss your life beyond DH, the internet and the computer addiction that we all suffer
![]() Pretty much the question is; What do you do outside the computer? I'll start off I'm studying first-year Music Industry (Technical Production) - basically a course about the recording, production and mixing of music. Mostly to help my learn more skills and techniques that i can apply to my own music, but also to learn the skills and gain contacts to actually work in the industry when i'm finished here. AS i hinted at just before, I'm producing my own music (trance), though i've been a little quiet on that front lately, focusing more on the performance side, with DJ'ing. Played at a couple of parties, got a couple more lined up. To fund my record addiction I work in retail (not the greatest job, but it has given me a new respect for those who have done it far longer than me). MY official title is "Customer Greeter" which means i'm the guy at the front of the store who says "Hi, How are you?" as you enter or "Have a nice day" as you leave. I'm also supposed to check everyone's bag on the way out, in case their stealing. So to my friends at work (at some outside work) i'm affectionately known as "Doorb*tch" Hmm that was probably more than i should have typed, but your turn - open up, let the rest of DH know what makes you tick

If i can, my name "judas" is used everywhere on the net... games.... messenger, i never change it. In either case: I'm currently Owner and Opperater of my own computer business/store/shop. Out in the middle of nowhere, small town, but i pull in business from roughly a 100 mile radias. I also manage the Sears Catalogue store which resides in this shop as well. I'm partnered with a person that is always doing onsite stuff, he has his own business which bring more things into the shop, call it the mall if you wish. To top it off, every tuesday fresh homemade baking comes in. I work Tuesday to Friday, 9:30am to 5pm (usually much later depending on the tasks or what i'm doing, usually when it hits 5pm, i'll start slacking a bit but i keep the doors open, more business that way.) Saturday, sunday, mondays are dedicated for service calls (onsite) or work around my house or aound the shop, or helping my father with the farm. Or if need be, making special supply runs to the city and back. When and IF i get free tme, i usually spend it watching some sci-fi series (Stargate) or playing some games on the machine, or on DH (yes i'm lifeless).

me.....i'm a bit like richy up there. boring
![]() i work 9am to 5:30pm monday to friday. today is the last day of summer vacation for me, so tomorrow after work, i have night classes again .my major....network communications. Basically, i'll be behind the scenes at keeping offices networked within the office, and between other office locations to a central server somewhere. i'll back up my BS degree with a CCNA and a few other certs as well. on my free time i'll usually spend it online since i don't really have many friends. my lady and i have conflicting work schedules, so we don't hang out nearly as much as we used to . with my friends, it's pretty much the same, so i don't hang out with them really any more unless we both have the time.i just bought a car not too long ago. some of you may have seen that in vikingod's thread. still living at home with the parents. it's so depressing. my room often times makes me claustrophobic. currently in my room I have so much crap in it, let's see: my bed, two desks, my night stand with the TV on top of it, my dresser, 3 fully functional used daily computers, one computer not used since my third system build, another computer that i've been waiting payment on to finish fixing, my old 17in. CRT monitor which is also on the floor that i was using before i got the Samsung SyncMaster 226bw i'm using right now, umm....two chairs, my laundry hamper, a fish tank...i want that fish to die but i'm not going to kill him though....and a bunch of books and other school stuff on the floor because i don't have any more room in my room to put random shit like that away. i want to move out so bad, but with a car payment now, and a few other responsibilities, i don't think it will be happening any time soon .it's summer here, and the average temps, except for today cuz it was unusally cool today, are in the mid 90s. the hottest part of summer here is all of august and early september. i hate summer. i'd rather be cold than hot. that's about all i can say about my RL for right now. |

About my work... Well lets just say that it has something to do with art and I work in the dark but I control the light. |

I have a degree in computer science, my day job is programming and designing flash games in the casual market. I'm currently working on a shelf title that will hit PC's sometime toward the end of the year.
I usually go out into NYC at night on weekends and hit up a bar or hookah bar. Weeknights can be a bar in my town or poker at my frat. When my hand isn't broken from being a moron, I play piano and write.

I have a government funded summer job that essentially involves doing nothing from 9-5, with Thursday and Fridays off. At least my days off are flexible...
Going into my second year at university, not really sure what I'm doing there, going heavy on maths and picking up some poli-sci stuff next year. Currently living with my parents' because my other summer plans fell apart at the last minute. At least they have a duplex, and let me live in half of the other side for free (other half of the side they don't live on is storage). Free time is spend playing piano, guitar, soccer, ultimate frisbee, doing karate and some MMA and reading. My real love is snowboarding, but we seem to have this damn problem where the temperature is above 0 for close to 200 days per year...

I don't spend as much time on the comp as i used to, and when I do, I'm usually playing diablo 2 on battlenet or watching ufc (anderson silva ftw baby
)Away from the comp, I work at a veneer and plywood mill...I'm in the green-end where we make veneer from conditioned logs. I run a variety of machines there, and work 12 hour shifts. I do 2 weeks of nights, and 2 weeks of days, working thursdays to saturday/sunday depending on the week. Other than that, my wife and I just bought a house a few months ago, so that keeps me pretty busy with various projects. I still like to drink lots of beer and enjoy the odd round of golf.

Good thread, its nice to get to know a few people, especially some of the new regulars.
I work as a commercial loan review officer for a bank (exciting, I know). It pretty much revolves around analyzing companies financial statements and the industries they operate in, looking at loan structure, and judging risk based on a number of parameters. Sort of like auditing, but a lot more specialized. As for fun, I spend most of my time with my wife and kids. I enjoy golfing and tennis (damn, I am a banker). I was a pretty good guitarist in a former life, but now I act more like a "music critic" (gasp!). I'm a bit of a neat freak with my house, and I love beer.

Spent 2 years in college, decided to get a job and go back later (ran out of money)
Work 8:30-5:00 at a big insurance company here in Tulsa -- I'm assistant IT director, same work as the IT director just less money... In my free time I play with electricity, wiring, painting, plastic crafting, general computer stuff... Currently my big project is automating my apartment (X10, web interface, all that jaz so my iphone can control the house.) I go out to the bar a lot... have not really gotten the college mentality out yet.

I'm a filmmaker. My first feature, DEAD IN THE WATER, is being released on Sept. 25 throughout North America by Indican Pictures. Should be available at the big video renters as well as the big box stores. In development on two more projects. Getting married in two weeks (July 28).

I manage a pizzeria for a living. I actually really enjoy my job and get paid surprisingly well and only have to go 2 blocks to get to work. I've got lots of videogames and systems, but I'm kinda getting away from that. Otherwise I skateboard, ride my bike, play basketball and blabbity blah.
I more recently got a nitro powered r/c car~I simply love running the crap out of that thing and nearly destroying it, only to repair/rebuild it and do it all over again I was in need of a new hobby. I used to build and tinker with my own computers, now I'm happy just having one to get online with and check my email.

I have been regular here for quite awhile but I have had lots of jobs, careers, girlfriends, cars and drama for a lifetime.
I work for IBM as a software trainer in several languages. I primarily teach AHLTA to end users in the Department of Defense and perform sustainment training on site, and at seven other sites in the UK. and 11 sites in the USA. I train doctors, nurses, techs and administrative folks to use AHLTA in conjunction to other software packages the DOD uses as well. AHLTA is a cradle to grave software program that allows users to document medical care. Because of my military / medical background in the U.S. Navy and during deployments I can tailor my training to meet users needs from Stavanger Fjord to Yokosuka Japan, depending on the mission. I only make about 75,000 a year but I get to travel and meet really cool folks. So far on on this project I have been to Ireland, England, Scotland, Germany, Holland, Norway, Germany and Turkey. I lived most of my life overseas following my father from Crete to Spain to England, and the U.S. of course. I never graduated from High School nor do I have any degree's save for some technical training I recieved in the military and my IT management and project management certification from DeVry University. I am a self taught artist. I have enjoyed being: Day Labor - planing crops, digging wells, ditches, harvesting and truck driving Apprentice Brick maker - crushed my right hand cleaning a mold. Cook at the USAFA - Decorated cakes and line cooking at the Academy. Account Manager - Ford Motor Credit (glorified bill collector) Retail and Car sales - Loved it, made lots of cash. Naval Hospital Corpsman - two wars, three ships, two submarines and loads of deployments with the second marine division - OOORAH. Ortho Technician - working for 14 doctors near the Olympic Training Center. DOD Contractor - Teaching military software and systems to the U.S. military (which I love). Father of two children three time loser at marriage. engaged to a wonderful lady. praying for Peace in IRAQ making ends meet.

I'm 22, will be 23 in October. I am allergic to alcohol but still go out for drinks. I play tennis, basketball, football, slow pitch softball, baseball for fun, and pretty much everything. On the other side I skateboard, wakeboard, and snowboard. My summer passions used to be strictly wakeboarding and going to concerts. Now unfortunately I work for a Publishing company that puts out 4 Computer Magazines a month along with a special feature that comes out every once in awhile. One of our magazines you will see in Best Buy often... First Glimse. We also put out other publications that put together advertisements for trucks, services, charter planes, tractors, heavy machinery, etc. I am an IT support Specialist (Helpdesk for internal and external support) and do my rounds supporting customers of our bigger publication. I have a degree in Network Systems Administration and am studying for my certs. I live with my girlfriend whom I have been with for ages now and plan on getting married some day.
I like punk rock, metal, hardcore, and some indi rock. Ehhh I have a Takamine thin body G series acoustic guitar, and an old Conn that has an old western twang. I write poetry, short stories, and music lyrics. Hmmm I am pretty much out of things for my life. If I think of anything else I will share them in here.
