Metallica-st anger....rocks!!

Got me hands on the promo.....and i must say that it isn't that bad....IMO it feels more 'garage' and back to the basics again.....it feels moore 'old' Metallica and that's a good thing in my opinion...

It seems strange for them to return to a past they left behind long ago. Since Cliff Burton died Metallica has gone downhill, IMO. The true raw, powerful sound ended with "Master of Puppets". Let's see what this next album brings... It sounds promising, but I refuse to be so excited about it. I hope it's not a publicity stunt this "going to the roots, anger release type of thing".

I agree, their music started to gain a "sissyfied" kinda sound to it after 'Master of Puppets", but I thought that ....And Justice for All was still decent, but obviously missing the powerful bass riffs. It's after THAT album that they REALLY started to suck. He actually tried to add (probably studio enhanced) variation to his voice and it sounded kinda weird for Metallica. Many heavy-metal fans were disappointed, I think.

I don't think it's strange at all that they went "back-to-basics". I've seen plenty of interwiews with Metallica where they said that they received lots of fan mail telling them to make another album like Master of Puppets. They are just now FINALLY doing that. (At least supposedly, I haven't heard the new album yet ).

Maybe they are starting to realise that they alienated many of their original fans by selling out to the pop music crowd. Or they are getting nowhere with their hollaring about downloaded music and figure that they'll make more money if they go back-to-basics and start catering to their ORIGINAL fans again, who (in many cases, obviously not anyone here ) don't know diddly about P2P and PC's or anything else more complicated than their car radio and THOSE people will BUY their CD instead of downloading it.

All this assumes alot though, until I actually hear the album, I don't know if it's gonna compete with Master of Puppets or not. We'll see....
