My rep button is greyed out so I can't leave any no more.

I left a few Positive reps including some for the Jewish hornet cos he's a laugh & I recieved a few positives too but now for some reason the option is greyed out? I wanna leave some more rep in FWZ & cant

I try to make a point of using it, but I get that spread the love pop-up a lot.
I like it, but it does seem like its the same clutch of regulars who regularly do the most to deserve it, so maybe ease the limits on handing it out to the same folk all the time or some such ?

I'm on some forums with various forms of rep system, others without... it's mostly a waste of time & space.

A system I like the look of (as it tends to reduce clutter) is the "User X said thanks for this post" that I've seen in a few other places, as it cuts down on space for "me too's" and "I agree's".

PS. Rep I'm most likely to give = "anti hero" - I'll tend to rep only to support someone standing against the mutual rep cartel, as everywhere you have rep, the system usually ends up corrupt.

don't like those so much, all the ones I've seen leave a box under the post with the names of all the people who've given thanks, so a thread with a couple of posts with lots of thanks ends up being huuuuuuugely long and generally messy

I was going to ask about this a couple of days ago, as a forum vet of over 7 years in various places, I have seen multiple rep systems, and know how good they can be (And how bad, for that matter), but here it seems to be.... ignored slightly, either that or nobody appreciates each others posts, that said I haven't been very active in using it either, so I really should get started, heh

I tried to use it a couple months ago but it said I already gave that person rep and it was too soon. I think only a couple people really impress me to the point of remembering there's a reputation system and I already gave them points.

yes, that's one thing i don't like about the rep system. you gotta spread your rep luvin' around quite a bit before you can get back to the same person on a different post.

sometimes because of that, i will go around and find a bunch of new DH members and give them rep just to get back to that one particular post.

Larget Factors for Rep points given or taken would be interesting.

as it stand now, if your new, you have 0 rep... if your a year old member..1 rep.... every additional year only gives 1 more rep..

would make things genuinely interesting if there was an emediate impact on someone rep counter with a short number of reps...

If say your new, you should not be able to rep a single point unless you have more then say 10 posts...

After that 1 rep point can be taken/given...

Soon as your a year old member, 2 rep point bonus..

3 year, 5 rep
4, 9rep
5, 15?

Actually what would be really cool is random chance of various rep..

turn it into a game,

"you repped for 5"
"CRITICAL REP, you repped for 9!"

Lol Judas, apart from the "crit" bonuses, agree, long standing rep bonuses should be included, as an addition to the usual rep power increase with higher rep.

For myself i use the rep option.Noting wrong with showing an amount of appreciation to a post or thread.No matter how small the detail may be.

And if somebody had also left the user name in the comment i make sure they get something returned.At least when the system allows me to do so.

I don't know why but people tend to not give me any negative rep or positive rep, I think there was a time (when I was not around lol) when rep was flying around faster than the sun flies around the moon but then everything came to a stand still as people forgot about rep and stopped using it, DH is a serious site mostly where most people tend to lurk till they see a good reason to post, few people on DH are spammers (like the rest of us

) and post alot, but that's what makes DH special and the coolest place on the web.

I use rep alot actually, don't know if someones already mentioned it but it encourages you to give out rep to other people by only letting you give one point of rep to the same person twice after you've given it out to other people on the forums. I know I shouldn't say this but sometimes I get the feeling that people are scared of me, which is kind of strange to say the least, but that's just how I feel sometimes. I have been accused of being dominating and overbearing/proud even when I'm not even trying to be in real life but I don't think that would seep into a keyboard and onto the net, would it you think???

That said I think reps okay but I doubt people will use it alot in the future. Is it causing problems you think Z???

Edit: rep is I think a good way of finding the popular members with people.

That's another thing I think the rep thinggie is good for, number of trolls online has dropped sufficiently since its introduction I think, it played a big part in controlling da jewish hornet, it and the sin binned members addition, and he was one of those guys it seemed who thought "any publicity is good publicity" lol.

i use the rep when i can, but its hard giving rep since those that deserve it usually were already given it by me.... since i gotta give it to other people.... it dont work too good...

maybe limiting it to one +rep to a person per thread from a user? i dunno....
