Beowulf (the movie)
You've got to see this freakin' movie! I saw it in IMAX 3D and it was both the best 3D experience yet (the entire movie is 3D not just a few scenes) and the IMAX clarity finally resembled watching a gigantic HD TV. The climactic scene actually made me say "holy shit" out loud a few times.
![]() Great movie on its own but if you have an Imax in your area see it there instead of regular film. You'll be happy you did.

its the latest enhanced motion capture movie....
consider it a "different" movie.. over-hyped here in the UK..but...hey, the genre is waiting to explode on screen... and of course Angelina Jolie is starring in it. critics are killing it...so of course we are going to have a Beowulf game soon..LOL

I wasn't expecting much out of the movie especially because I heard it was originally rated R but dumbed down to PG13 (it was 14A in Canada). This movie was filled with nearly as much violence as "300" (minus the decapitations) and it has a special sort of awe because of the 3D (the blood just oozes out sometimes filling the entire screen).
As for the story, I don't know why critics are knocking this movie. The voice work was strong even from Jolie who isn't in it that much. Only Robin Wright Penn's character lacks much facial expression and that's due to her character. Finally, I'd like to say that Beowulf himself is the most badass movie character in a while. He'd rip Leonidas' heart out with his bare hands if they ever fought His theme music is awesome and comes at the best times in the movie. A couple of his battle scenes could not have been done in live action without it looking like crappy Spiderman CGI.

I guess if your not a gamer, it doesnt look right. the biggest complaint I heard was about Anthony Hopkins beard being CGI rather than real, but the whole flick is really more like game animation right? Besides, critics whine about stupid crap anyway..

Ignore what I said about Beowulf not having decapitations, there's one very memorable one which actually lasts longer than all the decapitations put together in "300". If that doesn't make you psyched then I don't know what will

As soon as I heard Beowulf scream "I--AM--BEOWULF!" I checked this one of my list of films to see. It reminded me too much of 300 and the constant screaming in it. Hated 300 and I most likely will hate Beowulf. I'll catch it on cable sometime.

Personally, I found this movie to be much better than 300 no doubt the Imax presentation played a part in that.

The voice of Beowulf is the great British actor Ray Winstone.
![]() He was the main character in Sexy Beast.
