It would be really nice if a site like DH or [H], or Anandtech came up with a financing plan to help gamers get money to build new rigs. I have no idea what that would entail, but it's still be a nice idea, granted, it'll never happen :P
I'm just jealous because I want to get a shiny new 8800GT or 3750, but to justify it I'd need a new mobo, proc, and ram as well, and yeah...I'd barely be able to afford the card itself ![]() Anyway, that was my random thought for the day.

You mean poor? becouse most people would default
![]() thats what credit cards and loans are for the void is already filled. but if you have poor credit or too young no ones going to lend you money... the finaceing plan is simple work , save your money aside, buy the hardware you want.

its the price of technology and gaming. I make plenty enough money to afford anything I want, but I refuse to believe all the hype about new products and fancy rigs. In my lifetime those pretty boxes with blinking lights and spinning platters and tremendous power supplies will shrink and we shall see another evolution in computer technology. Its already happening. I cant wait till you can get anything you want in a bubble pack at a convience store. If you have to work your butt off to get something that will be outmoded or outdated within a few months by all means do so, but I would rather be productive then sit on my ass and play games all day, I personally have a life. Measure what you want by what you will gain and you will see that unless your a tech that gets free stuff all the time from companies to try out products and write reviews it is damn expensive. I think you can scrape up 2000 bucks in a short while to get a rig right, but then you find that you have to buy food, pay bills and feed the kids. Unless you have a disposible income or a sincere interest in learning skills and applying knowlege it is just a hobby really and a damn expensive one. At least it isnt as insane as rebuilding old trucks or sports cars and never finish them...LOL Good Luck
btw- what ever you want in life, if you get it for free it really isnt worth as much as working and paying for it yourself.

It would only work in an utopia, where no one would get fired, no one would default, and interest rates would be fair. For the most part I'm happy with the hardware that I have. The times that it's rough are when a new game comes out that my system can't play at my native res (which happened a lot, now I'm playing on my tv, 1280x720 isn't hard to do) The other times that are hard to ignore are when a new bang/buck card comes out that would nearly double my video processing power. The reason that the temptation is difficult right now is that my processor is feeling its age and can't keep up anymore. I can't play Crysis on 1280x720 (or really 800x480 for that matter. Damn that game) new ram is cheap (20 bucks / gig) dual core processors are cheap, and the 3870's and 8800GT's are so powerful for their cost.
At this point, it's my buying logic going up against my "real life" logic. I want a new system because it'd be cheaper than ever to build a true powerhouse, but I won't end up getting one because there's no way I can gain that much money with my current lifestyle of working a dead-end part-time job, renting a house, smoking and drinking.

I find the best way to get money is to work, you know, at a job.
That or test experimental medicines. |
