Heard any good music lately?
Just wondering what everyones been listening to. A band called the "Silversun Pickups" was just brought to my attention, and I can't get enough of it. Sort of a "Smashing Pumpkins meets My Bloody Valentine". Sounds like it came right out of 1993, really good stuff I think. First time in a while where a new band really got my attention.
allmusic ((( Carnavas > Overview ))) edit: and now, having read the review to the link above, I just realized the author from AllMusic.com used the same "Pumpkins/Valentine" comparison... I feel quite lame... |

Yeah, a buddy who, knowing how much I love music from the early 90's (especially the Pumpkins), told me I had to check it out. Luckly I had a few bucks in my iTunes account.
Portions of the song "Three Seed" sound remarkably like part of a tune I wrote in college. I'll take that as a compliment. |

One song, music video actualy, that I keep listening to and if you manage to find it you might like it, is Kosheen-Gone (Nordcore Remix).
I don't remember where I got the video from, but it uses clips from FF8. That doesn't matter though, the song is pure bliss. OK, found a youtube version! YouTube - Kosheen - Gone (Nordcore Remix / Final Fantasy) The sounds and video are not excellent, but they will have to do.

Been listening to a lot of Post Rock recently.. you know, the music that is just purely instrumental with no lyrics
Particularly Explosions in the Sky, amazing band if you just like to hear music.. and they actually make their music sound like the song title One of my favorite songs by them, called Six Days at the Bottom of the Ocean: YouTube - Explosions In The Sky - Six Days At The Bottom Of The Ocean Other than that, it's all Classic Rock for me

I dunno if I'm off genre, but a couple of guys in a band recently pledged my fraternity. Their stuff is really good, kind of like hello goodbye. I listen to their myspace page pretty much daily :P

if any of you are into the post rock genre (like me), and like what LHC posted, then check out MOGWAI's album called "Zidane, a 21st Century Portrait". that album is just the most awesome thing to have on if you are in the mood to chill out. Great to have in the background if you are working to. Mogwai have released some great albums.

For sure, their newer stuff like 'nil recurring' and especially 'fear of a blank planet' are really good too.
As for some post/experimental rock stuff, have you guys had a listen of Earth's new album 'the bees made honey in the lion's skull'? Funny title, but totally awesome.

Yea, I've liked most of the ones I've heard so far, such as Mogwai, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Sigur Ros, Mono, 65daysofstatic, and Do Make Say Think
Know of any other good ones?
