You know, the next time you rent a DVD from Blockbuster, when you go to return it and (maybe) rent another one, complain to the clerks that the DVD's you've been renting haven't been rewinded (is rewound a word?) if there's a "be-kind-rewind" sticker or emblem on them.

Ah, ignorance. There is a rewind feature in DVD players, but all it does is play the DVD backwards, in slow-mo even. It's not the same as rewinding a tape.

If a DVD is double sided, does that actully mean it has to be turned over (or is "double sided" just a term for something else)

If so, then it would be best to place it back in the box so that if to take it out and load it the same way you would a CD, it's side 1.

Tapes go from spool to spool, so they can be rewound (in the case of a single sided tape like VHS) - or returned to side A in the case of double-sided tapes like cassette and (obsolete but it was better than VHS) Video 2000

Discs, be they Vinyl, CD or DVD, have NO position when detached from the playing mechanism.

Now a memory card, MAY have a playback position stored, so it's arguable that you could "rewind" a memory card - at one time, THAT was supposed to be the next media distribution format .... whatever happened to.....
