Ben Kinsella Stabbed, 16th to be Stabbed this year in UK.
I just saw this on the news, and it's really starting to hit home just how vulnerable teenagers like myself are now
![]() Hell, i was singled out from my first day at grammar school for just being slightly different which was bad enough, now you can be stabbed for being popular. It's genuinely terrifying. I've just been talking to some mates about this and i see it this way. Stopping and searching kids could work, but because of all the child protection laws and shit it can't be effective. I can understand breaking up groups is unfair, but it's easy to see who's gonna make trouble and who isn't. i'm always in a group but we're freerunning, not doing any harm, we're moving about and discussing things but kids sat on walls and stood on street corners with hoods up and joints in their mouths are obviously gonna start causing trouble. And if you think i'm being stereotypical, just come to the UK and spend a night wandering round any major city, you'll see it's the most accurate stereotype you will ever see. There's an article by the Telegraph Here |

16th stabbed (Who Died Perhaps).. eh that is a total understatement of the local press. And i do show respect to Ben Kinsella and his family. And to be honest how much press coverage would of been shown if he was not the brother of a Eastenders (BBC Soap) actress Brooke Kinsella.
I garantee the numbers is far higher than that..Its just annoying at times that the press highlight certain events to gain public coverage. My nephew was stabbed earlier this year (yes he is ok but was about an inch away from a major vein which could of made it more serious) but he had only a minimal mention on teletext. Another Man was stabbed in nottingham town center this last weekend (i live within 2 miles of this stabbing) who is currently in a critical way,and is still fighting for his life. The police and the press doctor the true facts for their own coverage...As it stands i can think of at least six knife attacks in the last six months in nottingham alone. Mousey.. i do understand your concern,i hope things do go well in the future. The public opinion is superior to the Police Press Releases of recent years. It's just so difficult to know what to believe at times. A quick search on BBC News shows how bad the stabbing related news can be.Some of these storys are related but a website with a huge number of stab related articles show a more realistic picture.. I remember at Tucson High School getting cut on the way to the bus stop during a race riot. I still have a scar on my left hand and the palm of my right hand from it. I bled like a stuck pig and the driver wouldnt let me on the bus to go home, I had to sneak on through the back door and hide. My parents pulled me out of school after that. High School was tough.

I never knew he was the brother of that actress :/
and i don't doubt it's a lot higher. There's a hell of a lot of incidents that won't make it to the police ie. gangland stabbings so it's probably closer to the hundreds this year rather than the tens. |

Your guess is as good as mine, it's worst amongst teenagers funnily enough, makes sense really i spose, most secondary schools in the uk are pretty much just training grounds for criminals
![]() Hell, there's guys selling weed at my old school apparently, why stop there right?

Who knows? My guess would be that its a by-product of increasing levels of nanniness by the state and cutbacks on school sports. When I was a teenager I got into the same hormonally induced blind rages that every teenager does - but I got to take it out playing competitive physical sports like rugby.
Competitive games are socially unacceptable now because some dickhead decided that splitting kids into winners and losers was bad for their development. Its also worth pointing out that the gap between the richest in our society and the poorest is getting even wider. The disaffected youth are finding it harder and harder to find their place in the 'pack'. When you're part of a group who are socially 'beneath' all the other social groups then your place in the 'pack' won't be decided by cleverest, wealthiest, most attractive, so it ends up being a purely physical thing - biggest baddest strongest stabbiest wins...

When I look to the future and think about the children I one day may have... I don't want them to leave the house! I barely go a day without seeing some form of anti-social or abusive behaviour to innocent people on the street.
I could criticise the authorties etc, but I don't have a solution either so.... |

![]() Police are stuck in offices doing paper work, the reason teenagers (like myself) get away with so much shit is because as soon as a police officer lays a hand on them they can start screaming about abuse and rape and shit like that, the worst bit is people believe em. |

I think Al has it right. The behaviour of the young usually mirrors the state of society.

The police and juditioanal system in the uk is quite soft in many ways,And im sure this may be part of the reason..
A couple of years ago the UK Gov introduced a law for carrying a knife will be a prison sentence of 5 years..every reality tv program i have seen many who has been caught carrying has only either been cautioned or given a much shorter sentence and more often these carry a 2 year suspended sentence. It seems like the Laws introduced are not being followed by Judges or magistrates here.. After all all the uk public have to keep reading these type of news reports.. Knife death sparks police pledge just looks like yet another "look good press release from the uk police" Just to find that nothing will happen. Also with yet another report i heard today that Police on the Beat will be a thing of the past within the next 10-15 years..So this will now send out a signal to all criminals that it will be much harder to be caught in the act, which in turn im sure this will make things much worse in the uk. Does the UK have a lot of shootings or are most of the crimes committed with knives?

Seriously though, its a worrying state of affairs, in order to be top dog in a lot of estates, gangs, whatever at the moment you need to carry a knife and be prepared to use it. When everyone is carrying knives the top dogs are going to need to be carrying guns...we need to somehow integrate these people into normal society where carrying a weapon isn't how your social status is decided. Or we need to remove them from society all together...stick them all on the Isle of Man and wall the place off from the rest of the world!

Understandable statement..I live within miles of where Colin Gunn (BTW was not aimed as a Bad Joke) lived..And there are still some of the Gang members who are still out on the streets,so you still can't shoot your mouth of in the wrong areas..its just a case of imprison one leader and someone will always take over. Im pretty sure that part of the problem with the recent knife attacks is due to being a soft system and no long term deterrents.. |
