Hello all, I'm Shane... hoping to get some help with my drivers and get my computer running good for counter-strike: source... I run into video-lag during gameplay, which becomes a major problem seeing as I am an assistant-admin on the server I play on. I checked my ping last time I had a lag-spike... it was normal... around 50-60ms... but... my net_graph said it was over 500... even though my console said 50-60ms when I checked... blah... lmao.

Nothing hurts worse when you're going for the winning knife kill and... oops... where'd he go?! Wait, I'm dead!? WHAT!? lol.

Hopefully I can get the help I need here.

My name's Michael and I live in Houston, TX. I found out about this site from the KX driver project -- the folks that are keeping the old but good Soundblaster and EMU cards alive in new OSes with their driver updates.

I'm giving Win 7 a test drive on an old machine, cuz I want to see how well it handles a minimal install. So far, finding drivers has been a slow process. DriverMax has helped some, but I'm thinking this place might be a better resource in the long run.

BTW, this old box is running a 1.2GHz Athlon on a MSI K7T motherboard with 768MB of RAM. It actually runs pretty well, despite the fact that it's a little short on RAM. So far, I like Win7 quite a bit more than Vista. In some ways I like it more than XP, in others not.

Welp, that's about it. Time to go look around and post some noob questions.

First time poster, long time review reader and a big fan of DH.

I'm not going to lie to you, my main reason for signing up at the time was to enter contests but after reading some of the posts I think I'll be very comfy here.

I obsess over parts to upgrade but usually have to snap back to reality since my 2 month old son and wife are #1. I wouldn't have it any other way but I do day dream a lot.
