I wonder if GS’s parents are adopting a Russian kid, or trading GS for one I’d watch out if I were you GS.
Have a great time and don't drink too much vodka.

Let me amplify

I see kids that are adoptees from the former soviet union, most are perfect specimens with athletic ability and superior intelligence, but these parents, all fairly wealthy, had to bribe the adoption service and the local administration to allow the americans to choose which kids they wanted. This might be an advantage for you if you possess the level of income to support your interests. I know it sounds wierd but the kids I see are all of the same caliber of developement, just unfortunate.

i went out to moscow, leningrad/st petersburg, and tallinn (estonia) back in the late 80's...i remember politcal and economic uncertainty from the people, military presence in the streets, gray crumbling apartment buildings, blue haired old women, and unshaven ladies. you had to stand in a line to order something in a store and then stand in another line to pick it up. gorby was in office and yeltsin was stirring up trouble...

gs, take your time out there and soak up as much as you can. russians are a proud people...and most of them will welcome your visit with open arms. just remember how to get to the us embassy.

He-he, tnx, Mac...

I meant to say that, general, but I thought you wouldn't reach Romania anyway. Just in case you might, drop me a line, there are things to see, I could be helpful

Enjoy your trip and good luck with your little brother. And check out the Kremlin - remember that the Red Square actually meant "Beautiful Square"

Beat ya to it Sinjin, I went in the mid seventies Things then were much the same as you describe, I absolutely hated it Apart from some remarkable buildings (something I didn´t appreciate at the time) the holiday stunk. Bad food, operas, ballets, and art galleries I must admit it would be nice to return now though to see how things have changed. I´ve just sneaked off for a bit and got myself an Internet access card from the hotel lobby but I´ve got to go now I´ll pop back later in the week!

Do you speak Russian or does will the kid speak English? If neither, then you're going to have a tough time with communication...

I won't have anything on the rocks except for a very attractive Female ...
As for beverages TSMACK I suggest an ICE COLD Canadian Beer ... Served in Diggy's new ATI MUG

But I'll have a mixed drink for GS anytime
