Get something bright red and put it outside the door. Hummingbirds are attracted to colorful things, especially red. He might believe it's food and go after it... and out of your life forever...

i've held hummings birds and have fed them....

but this one is so paniced it seems to ignore all signs of an exit

oventually it's going to die if it keeps up.... 1 full hour of flying around with little to no breaks at all to mention of

lol... no they'd likely take an hour and half to get here if that were the case..



anyways i just got it just now after searching around and talking to the locals here for a net of any kind...

after about 15 minutes of walking around trying to gingerly catch it.. i gave up and tried to corner it and get the net around it against the roof....

finally after trying a few times, i got it caught in the net but not well enough to do anything with other then walk the net across the roof and down the wall towards the wall, oventually flinging it out the door... at which point it finally flew the hell away.

almost 2 hours couped up in here with no meal

He could also do something more effective at keeping birds outside his store, like fixing a proper store front with walls and windows, a closed door, A/C or ventilation and buying a proper dual barrel shotgun full of salt.

PS. Salt because we don't want any damage on the ceiling, not that the bird is likely to survive anyway.

if the salt is compacted enough, it will make it become salt buckshot and causing splash damage

The salt would have to be seasalt of course. And if you could find a gunshop that sells the salt buckshot with added thyme, rosemary and black peppercorns you would be seasoning our feathered friendall at the same time. I'm sure if "tweetie-pie" understood, he/she would be proud to die in the knowledge he/she would be creating a culinary delight. It's how Gordon Ramsey started out. He used to run a store selling computers and components until a partridge flew in one day and he's never looked back. Food for thought eh? Food for thought...

well, if you have one of those old school ceilings that have that bumpy white stuff all over, it'll blend right in and you won't need to worry about cleaning the ceiling

i've left the back door open to which is much larger and far more inviting.... but they always come in through the front...

actually i had a person that is deathly afriad of birds come into the store during the humming bird episode

after handling a number of hummingbirds myself.... they are quite a delicate and very unique and friendly bird

just don't threaten them or invade thier territory..... they'll dive at each other to.....

nothing like watching 5 baby humming birds fight over the food
