i'm scared sh*tless
first off...this is not a troll. i'm dead serious here.
![]() steph (girlfriend) left on a personal business trip a few hours ago out in cali...she won't return until tuesday. i'm left sitting here tinkering on a few unfinished projects at my desk growing tired with every unproductive minute...alone. about an hour ago i heard a loud knock on my wall just to the right of me about 4 feet away. strange thing is...on the other side of it is my bedroom which is empty. nothing hanging on either wall, nothing even touching them. the cat is asleep on the living room sofa. the front and only door to the apartment is very much locked, along with the windows. then 5 minutes ago...another rap on the wall. this one scared the crap out me. hair on my head, arms, legs, and back of neck stood painfully straight up. goosebumps sprouted up all over my body. now i'm thinking about that movie "the sixth sense"...when the kid tells bruce willis that everytime you get these hair raising experiences it means that theres a ghost in the very near area. this is not good. not fun. not funny. i've surrounded myself with a cane, a switchblade, and brass knuckles. all the lights are on and i'm blasting demolition hammer on my headphones. if someone/something reaches out and touches my shoulder i'll have a stroke.

That's happened a few times to me, but I attribute it to the house's foundation shifting and the subsiquent cracking of a piece of wood or the frame.... The front and back doors can't open properly: they scrape the concrete....
The house is sinking further to Hell ![]() Lighten up, pop open a beer and drink it slow.... maybe stroke the cat's fur to calm you down. Usually works for me. Cat's sleep all the time, so waking 'em up won't matter. ~eyeguy616 ![]() edit: just noticed, this marks my two-hundredth post! I never though I'd actually post this much..... That happened to me once when I was in the attic of my school's theater - I didn't move for another 2 hours, just stayed in the corner I was in with the crowbar I had up there for my work and stared across the attic...

i have those problems... i have every light on when i am home alone... wont go to sleep until my parents get home. I have a bunch of weapons in case of burglars, and i sit in a special seat so no-one can look in my house and see me... also, to get to my bedroom/ all the bedrooms/both of the bathrooms... you have to go through 2 halls... the first one is where i saw my first ghost a few years ago. So i piss/take a dump right before my parents leave then i sit in my living room with weapons like knives and stuff, and i watch TV... and if there is a storm... i have a bunch of candles glowing all through the house. and MORE weapons

"candles" wouldnt that make it even scarier? The only time something like this has happened to me is when someone started banging on the back door. When I built up enough courage to see who it was I opened the door and the garage door was closed, pitch black too (11:00pm) meaning they would have to manage to get through all the crap in the garage to knock on the door....why not use the front??? The scariest thing at the moment in my house is in the front hall by the front door. There is a curtain next to the door and no matter how you mess with it, ther is always this demonic face which looks to be screaming made out of the shadow. The strange thing is you can always move the curtain around and it will always reappear, this scared the shit outta me the first 20 times I saw it.

I used to live in a Haunted House, My mother went and did all kind of research and we even got to be on sightings. Theres even a Ghost tour of where I used to live on halloween of course. Was kind of fun living in a haunted house, I never saw much but my friends would, and we would be playing and then they would Bolt out the door screaming, and I was always left there wondering, always happend out of sight for me, except for when my recently desist grandpa visited our family and he showed up when I was about to take a shower.

Science's ghost of a chance
By Mark Henderson in London May 22, 2003 GHOSTS and supernatural phenomena do not exist but neither are they all in the mind, a study claiming to be the largest scientific investigation of the paranormal has found. Hampton Court Palace in southwest London is said to be haunted by a number of spirits. The spine-chilling reputation of supposedly haunted houses is often richly deserved but owes more to draughts and lighting than to restless souls and spirits, research into two of Britain's most haunted sites found. A team led by the University of Hertfordshire's Richard Wiseman examined paranormal experiences at Hampton Court Palace in southwest London and the South Bridge Vaults in Edinburgh. Hampton Court, acquired by Henry VIII, is said to be haunted by a number of spirits, including Catherine Howard, who was beheaded in 1542. The South Bridge Vaults, built in the late 18th century, are said to be visited by a boy who pulls at clothing, and by "Mr Boots", who pushes people and whispers obscenities. Although people who report ghostly apparitions or an eerie sense of presence are having genuine experiences, these can be explained by natural phenomena, the psychologists say. Cold draughts, poor or variable lighting, claustrophobia and magnetic fields can all promote a sense of unease some people interpret as a supernatural presence. As these environmental factors affect the same spots again and again, they quickly acquire a reputation for being haunted. The results of the study are to be published in the British Journal of Psychology, and "this is the first time that someone's made the case that these things are environmentally driven and has come up with evidence for it," Dr Wiseman said. In the first experiment, a warder at Hampton Court identified areas of the Haunted Gallery and Georgian Rooms in which supernatural events are consistently reported. Dr Wiseman's team then asked 462 visitors to walk around, reporting whether and where they had experienced unusual phenomena. Much to the scientists' surprise, there was a strong correlation, much better than chance, between the "haunted" spots marked by the warder and the locations at which people reported odd experiences. "The findings suggest that the areas in which people report their experiences are consistent across time," Dr Wiseman said. The link could not be explained by the participants' prior knowledge of the reputation of particular spots - people who knew about the alleged hauntings reported no more unusual experiences than those who did not. The "haunted" spots, however, were often those that stood in draughts or in which local magnetic fields varied significantly. "It looks very much like Hampton Court's reputation for being haunted is deserved," Dr Wiseman said. In Edinburgh, a tour guide selected 10 of the vaults and ranked them in order of "hauntedness", according to past reports of supernatural activity. More than 200 volunteers then spent 10 minutes in a vault, chosen at random, and were asked to report any unusual phenomena. Once again, the rate at which people reported ghostly sights, sounds, feelings or odours was closely related to the haunting order, regardless of whether participants had prior knowledge of the vaults' ghost stories. The findings, Dr Wiseman said, showed that ghosts and things that went bump in the night were best explained as the brain's interpretation of real phenomena and by our own conditioning through Hollywood films and ghost stories. "These are environments that we associate with ghosts - the spooky staircase, the small dark room," he said. The Times The Australian |
