Paul Rogers + Queen - New Album
Just headed home from Duxford and a day of oggling airplanes when I chanced upon an entire track from the new Queen Album featuring Paul Rogers. I nearly blew out the speakers in my little VW Lupo (german for fruitloop).
The song absolutely kicked some serious butt and had a production feel like some of the earlier Paul Rogers stuff with the THE FIRM. I nearly thought Brian May sound like Jimmy Page there for a moment, but Paul's voice sounds as good as it did when he played with Paul Kossoff years ago in Free and I hope there is a ballad or two on this mix from Queen. I wonder if Zardon is going to shoot the cover for this one too or the back as well, because there are some serious touring dates in the EU and Russia. This is long overdue and I welcome it with great anticipation of a very new and exciting addition to the rock anthems Queen and Paul have composed and performed in the past.

Hey, anything with Brian May playing guitar will never be bad. I am sure the album will be all killer and no filler. We are missing some Guitar Hero's in the modern day world. When all these old guys start kicking the bucket we are left with a lot of pop and recycled garbage.

When they started sampling Queen songs and Freddies voice for rap videos and rubbish then I knew the second coming of Christ was near, the world was going to end, but thankfully even kids today can see how dishonest some of the rubbish out there really is. I personally listen to Gorillaz occasionally because it is so wierd and fresh, but I can hear the dulcet tones of Brian May and Satch or Page in a instant. I can even tell if someone is ripping off Robin Trower too, and Hendrix, dont get me started..LOL
We need pure talent soon to replace the old guard, they wont last forever. Gone are the days of Hawkwind and Sabbath, and Motorhead, but the best are still plugging away. I wait with a great deal of anticipation for Joe Satriani to put something new and fresh out as well. I really enjoyed the Plant and Krause duo last year too, seems they are still plugging away as well. If you sniff anything out Allan please share it with us all mate.

Glad you like it, I love it myself as I love the blues element Rogers is bringing into it. Make sure you get the itunes exclusive, the cover of "runaway".

Thanks.. I am still a little suprised... Every time i buy an album. There is always two maybe three tracks i cant stand. It makes no difference what ever style it is.
For Cosmos Rocks every track is top quality.. Definitely worth the money.. Mind you this also goes back into queens history also.. Its just a pity John Deacon decided against the Queen/PR collaboration. Last edited by MIG-31; Sep 17, 2008 at 06:56 PM. |

It's defiantly an album id recommend,You can still hear queens style of rock within the tracks..As Z said Paul Rodgers does add someting a little different also.
After listening to the Cosmos Rocks album,And hearing Paul Rodgers Style does add some quality.Im so pleased they have not tried to replace the Legend of Freddie. It's not easy to describe really,Cosmos Rocks is quite different to Queens/PR Return of the Champions album.Even thogh he done an excellent tribute to some of queens classics. It's someting you would have to listen too for yourself.I would not like to say go out and by it for you to be dissapointed. |

I would be surprised if you didnt like it Jeff, due to Rodgers influence there are elements of old Bad Company/Free in the mix.

What I have heard so far reminds me of The Firm as Jeff had mentioned earlier. Im not sure what my overall opinion is as I have only had one run trough it so far. But one thing I can say is it has a Paul Rodgers feel all through the disk

well I have always like the studio clarity and quicksilver polish that Paul Rogers brings to any collaboration. I thought I wouldnt like his Hendrix renditons but I find myself singing along to them more than the originals (sorry Jimi). The fact that Page and other guitarists have worked with Paul Rogers is a testament to his longevity and vision. He ages well and I wish Paul Kossoff were there to see it or even Rory Gallagher, now that would have been quite a duo. I still havnet made it to high street but I will definitely find it on the shelf of Tesco I imagine. Thanx guys, I envy anyone that has heard all the tracks before me..LOL.
I need some inspiration and direction in my tastes of late having worn out my D-sides of the latest Gorilazz renditions and I need to rock. I have been listening to some of the older stuff just to prime my mind. Running with the Pack tonight and a Night at the Opera to polarize my musical palette and I am off in the morn.
