Just with reading all the LHC stuff I was thinking what I would do if we recieved an official press release:

Scientists at the CERN LHC facility have discovered the formation of a small black hole over Europe. An anonymous senior technician within the facility revealed that following extensive computer modelling by leading researchers, there is 98.2% probability the singualrity will expand exponentially and the planet will be destroyed by 0520 September 17 2008

I would buy a ticket to either the West coast US California or Baja (Mexico), buy a heap load of pot and set up a hammock on a quiet deserted beach. Maybe take a few close personal friends & family with me.

What would you guys do?

Anyway the energy needed to create black hole big enough that could destroy the earth is so big that it's not possible in the LHC. And it would form inside of it not over Europe... and we would not notice it at all, because we all would be dead shortly after it has formed.

I'd probably go home and hang out with my family. I'd spoil the hell out of them and my wife and do whatever they want. It would be enough for me to enjoy their company.

And to really be a spoil sport, if a black hole big enough were created, the sound created by it alone would probably be substantial enough to kill us all, not leaving a lot of time for beach parties or video games.
