I'm just curious. You never know what germs are hiding in your ears from your headphones?

Yes, after I got an ear infection from a Bose set I use at the gym. If you use headphones during any sort of exercise I would absolutely recommend regular cleaning because it can take months for your hearing to return to normal.

The ones I use have removable rubber tips which makes cleaning easier

I use outer ear headphones and I have to admit, I rarely clean them, that said only I use them so any germ transfers will be between me - headphones - me.

i haven't used in-ear monitors or earphones for a long time, but I regularly clean my earplugs that I wear when I go out.

I have brought two pairs with me. The in ear pair (an at best average from Sony) has removable plastic thingies, I cleaned them once and I have them about a month. I will continue to do so. The other pair is a weird clip on/behind ears that goes over the ear, by Philips. I have them for two months and they are a horrible light blue/green colour. They are dirty but there is no way to clean them without destroying them or having to use glue to place the "cloth" back on them. So I don't use them. Even my 80s walkman headphones had removeable ones so I don't know what is wrong with Philips on this one.

I had once a few years ago ear infection due to the constant use of a large and never cleaned pair of headphones. You do NOT want to get it, very strong pain that doesn't go away for a long time, even after medication.

I have ones that i use at work and i keep them sipk and span (very clean) coz a friend of mine once had an ear infection and it was not a pretty sight so i decided to learn from his mistake lol. I would recommend cleaning them once in a month if you use them regularly or even more times if you can.

i use AKG K-66, so there is no need to clean them (they are wrapped around the whole ear shell), but i also have a Phillips ear plug model (for my mp3 player), which i used to clean up all the time, but since it didn't make any difference (they don't really go into the hole of the ear, they just kinda hang on the shell of the ear...), i stopped cleaning them... so, now, i don't clean any kind of headphones (ear gear ).

What do you use to clean ear headphones?

I haven't cleaned mine in a while. I usually rub them on my shirt every time before putting them in but that's not as good as a real cleaning.

In ear headphones i clean 24/7, sometimes 4/5 times a day.
The Sennheiser CX300's i had were black, so you'd take em out of your ear and go EW! lol, a really good incentive to clean em.
And they had removable buds so cleaning was easy.
I tend to use a pair of tweezers to unclog any gunk hiding inside em
