It's the car. The driver is good but it's the car that makes it possible.

Re: some 1337 driving skills
I wish I could go out and afford to rip through a $2000+ set of rubber. Sure would be insanely fun though.

Re: some 1337 driving skills
did i say i was better? no but i've seen better.... as stated above.. with enough power under the hood, drifting doesn't take all that much to do. I would have been impressed if the guy was doing it with a lincoln town car.... very impressed.

Re: some 1337 driving skills
I would be curious to see a videos of the inside of the car while the guy is driving the course to see the guy steering, shifting and pressing the pedals.
I'm mostly interested in seeing how he shifts as it looks like it it should be hard to do while driving like that. Some drifting competition cars have a brake balance lever in the car. They can put 100% braking on the front wheels and 0% on the rear wheels if they want. It makes it very easy to do doughnuts in place as you just have to floor the two pedals. |

Re: some 1337 driving skills
i'm not sure.. but i couldn't see.... but i thought that model had the steering wheel shifter..... but i couldn't see well enough..... perhaps not..
and yes some of the drifters or stunter cars have far more control over the various aspects of breaking.

Re: some 1337 driving skills
have you tried it stop it?
To each there own, the meer fact that with enough horses under the hood will determine as a factor, exactly how easy it is to perform a drift let alone control it. It's not so much getting into the drift as being a problem, but how to control it. Agree it isn't easy unless you've gotten a little bit of practice. Now with a little itty bitty engine in comparison with the standard town car or vehicle that you see out on the every day streets, this is where the skill is really required. Think of it like having "sweet zones", with the shitty everyday car, you have extremely tight sweet zones, these zones are where you have to be spot on or else you lose your control. Where as with that subaru the sweet zones are quite large, you don't have to be super spot on for you to keep full control, hell you can be even a little sluggish. Yes i'm well aware of the japanese having done the drifting for ages through the mountains and valleys. But that doesn't say that they were the only ones pulling this off. There are countless places in the world were different forms of drifting are done, saskatchewan is not without using gravel roads and dirt roads not to mention trails. Course todays cars would fly apart at the seams through the first bit of drifting. (it's named a little differently depending where you go). Controlling a small bit of a drift with an empty 3 ton grain truck isn't exactly easy... let alone trying to get it to drift ![]() As i was saying, I'm not impressed by it.. that's all i was saying, but it's not like i think the guy sucked either. I would have been stoked if the guy was driving something far more complicated to do the same thing.

Re: some 1337 driving skills
ok Judas, this is an offical warning. I dont care what goes on in the flame zone, but i am getting sick seeing threads with you arguing with people. and before you ask, no I don't care who started it, your epenis is a little out of hand lately.
I am clamping down on this, if I see you involved in anymore bitchfests you are getting removed from the site. That said, if people intimidate you, then before you start a retort PM me personally and ill deal with it. Seriously, you would think you guys had more to do than bitch at each other about stupid stuff like this. CDs, please stop making the matter worse by flaming the fire. I want this site to be really positive and for you long standing members to get on, but its got to the point where im going to have to get this stopped. |

Re: some 1337 driving skills
You mean, now we are comparing apples to pumpkins? No. I just thought of the most powerful thing on the ground that wasn't rocket propelled and then said I wouldn't be impressed until I saw that thing drifting. I thought at first a diesel electric locomotive might be too far a stretch but then figured, what the heck, why not be totally unreasonable

still doesn't mean it wouldn't be impressive..
i mean it would be pretty slick to see controlled drifting with a f-22....
