Well, I think certain people abuse Twitter in a way that is by far more harmful than any narcotic (or was it originally intended as a drug? Who knows). I occasionally post a status on Facebook every now and then but that's about as far as it goes; I stay clear away from the actual Twitter.

Started twittering before it got hyped up. Twitter is great, if you know how to use it

I use it to spread info to my friends, release of new software, good sites, warning on software exploits, links to interesting videos, links to great deals and so on. I also use twitter almost as a RSS feed for bigger sites and breaking news.

I do not use twitter to tell people every single little thing I do in my daily life, that's just stupid and people who does that, should jump back to facebook, because they are clearly attention whores.

This baffles me, how is twitter any less of an attention whore platform than facebook? Most people ive seen who are on twitter are detailing every little explicit detail of their lives from getting surgery to eating burgers. I have even read people detailing toilet breaks. Obviously there will be exceptions to the rule and I can understand it might be useful for companies who can't be arsed updating their website or dont have the skillset to implement an up to the minute news system.

They all seem much the same to me. basically for teenage schoolgirls.

No offense to anyone who uses it of course, but its the bane of the net IMO and falls into the same category as reality tv. people enjoying following the lives of other extremely boring people.

I am just grateful it hasnt seemed to have caught on here, apparently people have better things to do with their time, like working, living, interacting with real people, etc.

As I said before, it deepens on how you use it. I don't use it to follow my friends bathroom breaks, I use it to share funny / useful / interesting info and almost as a RSS reader. I see Twitter as a much more clean and optimized service then eg. Facebook, where all people care about, it having as many friends as possible. Off course there are attention whores on twitter, but most of them get bored pretty quickly and run away to facebook, where they can spam "friends" with useless quizzes, minigames, blurry party pictures and other "services" who steal your private information and try to lure money out of your friends.

I ask cos in the story it said that she couldn't make calls cos the trackball was broke, but she could still twitter. I wondered how there wasn't any way to make a call when you can still twitter, nothing to do with the bank robbery bit.
