Hey, this one's for you, Renegade.
Sorry about the image quality, these pictures were taken with a cell phone. Before I moved to the States to go to college, I worked at a small PC shop, doing repairs and sales. Of course, in the course of this job, I had a lot of experiences with a lot of interesting people and bizarre computer problems. At any rate, I'm back home for the summer, and that means I am back on the job! So this guy brings in a fairly new Compaq Presario and says that it doesn't power up. Indeed, I hook it up and there is nothing -- no fans spin up, no HDD noise. So I pop open the thing and the first thing that strikes me is the computer's RAM slots. THEY ARE CROOKED. I guess it's not really a problem but WHY would Compaq do this? Is this a mistake? Okay, so anyway, I soldier on and disconnect the ATX connector ... and notice that it isn't an ATX connector at all (the real ATX connector is on top): ![]() I know proprietary components are nothing new, but they are still funny nonetheless. Enjoy. |
